Shot. (See what I did there?)
An argument over the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game led to a deadly shooting at a Bessemer home.
The game was in its final minutes Saturday night when Bessemer police say two men got into a dispute at a gathering in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue North.
Lt. Christian Clemons said the argument centered around which team was better. The homeowner asked the two men to leave because they were fighting.
Once outside, shots were fired and one of the men – 27-year-old Kealend Amad Pickens – was struck. The shooting happened before the game actually ended.
Pickens was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:23 a.m. Sunday, becoming Bessemer’s 24th homicide of the year.
The suspect fled before police arrived, but Clemons said they know his identity.
“It’s another case,’’ Clemons said, “of resorting to violence to handle differences.”
Tell me you’re from Alabama without saying you’re from Alabama.
Chaser.
My only question is whether the ‘Bama fan is the victim or the suspect. If it’s the latter, I half expect him to surface on Finebaum at some point.
I’ll kill you over Alabama football, Paaaaaawl!

I thought I learned the hard way to be very particular about who I drank with. It seems I was fortunate after all.

The city of Bessemer has 24 homicides this year already? Should be national news. Disgraceful

True Story – has nothing to do with football, just pure stupidity. Some of my buddies went fishing in a John Boat. Thy were fishing under a tree when a six foot water moccasin dropped right into the boat. (Yes, snakes can and do climb trees). The snake was likely trying to higher in the tree and away from my buddies).
Well, they had been drinking and Chas ensued. Turns out the snake didn’t have anything to worry about. One of the boys brought a 38 and put two bullets in the John Boat, which of course begin to fill with water. The story gets murky after that. But everybody left the boat, the snake swam away, laughing it’s tail off I’m sure. The boat was dragged to shore before it completely filled with water.
To this day I’ve asked them if they were sure they didn’t have kin folk in Alabama.
Morale of the story – drinking and guns are a really-really bad ideal.

The John didn’t pay; the pimp let him have it. Life in the big city!

I’m gonna play Columbo and guess that since the game was not yet over when the shooting occured, the Bama fan is the one who took the bullet. Bama had come from behind, taken the lead late in the 4th quarter, and shit talking commenced.

Alabama had taken the lead on a touchdown play that should have been a penalty..the most obvious penalty ever. I can see how that started an argument. But I’m betting the guy wasn’t an A&M fan as much as he was a Bama hater. Maybe an Auburn fan just wanting Bama to lose.

Surprised the Auburn feed didn’t say “Man was shot after Bama game, but at least no one poisoned a tree!”

If the Alabama justice system were run by SEC refs, the following will happen: the cops will catch the shooter, but fail to arrest him. The DA will press charges, but upon judicial review, they’ll let him go. A jury will still hear the case, but complain about the jaywalking ticket the deceased didn’t get.
