Stetson it is.

Apparently.

I’m fine with whatever the coaches decide.  As I’ve said, if there’s ever a season Smart and Monken have earned the benefit of the doubt, it’s this one.  I just hope it’s a call driven by what they think will work best today, rather than an indication that Daniels still isn’t physically ready.

That all being said, the one thing I ask is that they avoid being cute by playing the two in alternating series, or some other silliness like that.  This ain’t 2018.

We gon find out who starts on the Dawgs first O series. On3sports? Riiiiiiight. I’d like to know who their “sources” are.
If Monken is going to play both QBs then maybe it’s best that SBIV starts. The last time he relieved Daniels he came in jacked up and promptly threw an interception. I trust the coaches much more than On3sports. Sounds like those shitheads are looking for cheap publicity.

I would be more dubious if Seth Emerson weren’t saying the same thing. But regardless I bet Daniels plays today and gets back the starter role by Atlanta

I’ve been seeing/reading On3 articles in my news feeds a lot in the last few weeks. All of them (that I can recall on my first cup of coffee) have been pretty objective. No blatant clickbait, stir-the-pot BS that I’ve read…..yet.

      • As far as I can tell, On3sports articles linked from twitter aren’t paywalled, which I like.

I don’t mind paysites. But don’t link paywalled articles on twitter with clickbait titles.

Yeah I’m ok either way and I wouldn’t be surprised if JT tames back the starting spot today when he plays. And I agree on Bennett coming in after JT. He hasn’t done much of the dumb stuff that he did last year but what little he has done was when he cane in after. He reminds me of Murray with that stuff when Murray would do something stupid and we would hear about how “amped up” he was. The quarterback is one guy that doesn’t need to be all hopped up on Mountain Dew.

“If Monken is going to play both QBs then maybe it’s best that SBIV starts.” Ranger, that is one of the most insightful things I have read in a while. Brilliant really. No snark. In 2018 if Fromm had got injured mid season and Fields was named the starter, I think you would have seen a completely different player.

Either one of both our starters is fine with me. It would be poetic justice if Stetson starts and lights those bitches up as payback for last year. The one thing that concerns me are possible cheap shots late. Wouldn’t put it past them.

Ive been all over the map with my anxiety regarding cheap shots/late hits/trying to hurt our dudes this week. I am hoping that those turds come to the realization that there are a lot of draft picks on the field and on some level players on both sides should respect that and not try to hurt anyone.

Two points: 1) I think that either Bennett or Daniels can do enough to beat Florida or any team on our schedule that’s because I have faith in Monken, the defense and the QBs, 2) I hope this has not become a distraction for the team especially today against our biggest rival. Hopefully the focus that we’ve shown thus far is an indication of a special team and this QB uncertainty (at least from our perspective) is not something the players care about or waste any time worrying about.
    GO DAWGS FTMF!

  6. If Daniels is truly ready to play, I admit I find this to be troubling. Not enough to think we aren’t going to win, but enough that this game could be very uncomfortable. I keep thinking about 3rd down conversions and how the 2 QBs have been very different in the passing game on 3rd.

SBIV will be center stage and by choice not necessity. We’ll see how he handles that pressure. I’m trying to tell myself it will be okay but I am concerned about this game. UF is much more capable than their record. What Stetson hasn’t dealt with is being behind and having to make plays. Could that be when the pressure gets to him? I hope not.

Bottom line: We all know dem dere Gatas don’t take no jive. What we don’t know is exactly what that means.

Yup, I agree. Why is JTD not starting but able to play? Maybe they want to work him back into live action slowly????

      I’m already puckered.

      • I don’t know. I trust the coaches especially Monken to make the right call because he sees every rep in practice. I cannot imagine he would stay with Bennett because of the hot hand or whatever.

I truly don’t care who starts today I’m not at practice. Kirby and Monken I trust to play the QB they believe today gives us the best chance. I do care about the results just win everything else is noise.

But let me inject my $.02?
How about we, like this team, trust the coaches and everything they’ve poured into this team to create the chemistry, depth, and focus that to this point has produced results the likes that Georgia football has not seen in some time.
Let’s stop with the first sentence!

As I posted last night Stetson is a Davey O’Brien semi finalist it is not like they are starting Carson Beck who is an untested QB. I trust Kirby and Monken.

I still don’t get all the “concerns”. What has this team failed to do that people still feel like this? What has Florida done that makes you so afraid? I don’t give a shit about years past. I’m talking about this year. I would be willing to bet both quarterbacks play.

UF still has playmakers. We recruited some of the guys that are on their roster. Also, they turned the ball over a ridiculous 4 times against LSU and would have won that game if not for that. The law of averages will balance that turnover ratio back out at some point in their season.

It’s my inner Munson I know.

Yeah but I’m enjoying it right now and it has been a lot of fun so far. Worrying isn’t going to help Georgia win so I don’t do it. Georgia is the better team by a wide margin and is better coached. Kirby has talked to them about everything they need to be aware of at length and several times over. So they will either win or they won’t and me being concerned won’t turn a possible loss into a win. No Florida won’t turn the ball over four times today most likely but I bet they’re good for one or two. A couple of wasted possessions against this team is game over. FTMF. Georgia is going to kick Florida’s ass.

My desired scenario: Bennett puts it out of reach early enough to bring in JT, and then- under the pretext of getting him some needed work- run it the hell up. Way the hell up.

Not saying that’s gonna happen. Just that I would enjoy it for the rest of my life.

Maybe they come out with Stetson in the shotgun with JT to his left and Zeus to his right.

  18. Stetson earned the start. JT will play. Grantham has stopped no one. We’ve stopped everyone. Enjoy the 2nd half soul crushing Kirby drive and the gator boo boo faces as they pour out of the stadium. We have important business to attend to. And for anyone worried about cheap shots, our guys know how to throw some legal hits too.

After last year, I would bet it all that there is now a more motivated person on that field today then Stetson. He has some serious payback to dish out.

Just my two cents without reading all of the above. Bennett starts because we want to run and see if the Gator’s suck against the run like against LSU. If we can run it will be Bennett, if we need to pass to beat them then you will see JT.

The Ditch Lizard crowd had taken to referring to Stetson as “The Hobbit”. I hope he lights their asses up for >300 and at least 4 TDs.
