Sitting Tyler Badie probably reinforced the team’s attitude, but it’s got to be embarrassing to lose to an Army team that just got beat by a subpar Navy squad.
This has to be even more embarrassing:

Army won but didn’t cover? I flipped my pick when i heard eli was holding out badie. Cost me a first place tie dammit.

I did the same thing that half point always seems to get me.

Senator, I am going to riverside you on this one. Great win for Army! Those kids, as well as the kids at The Naval and Air Force Academies, are special young men and a cut above. Beating an SEC (in name only) team is an incredible way to end your season and college football career for a kid heading off to serve our nation. As a Navy guy I rarely say this, but Go Army! Guess you could say that Army had momentum on their side.

It is a great win for Army. Mizzou played like it didn’t want to be there. Both of these things can be true.

Mizzou sucks, Sunbelt team at best.

That’s why I didn’t get the decision to essentially bench their best player.

I’m beginning to think that Drinkwitz is Dan Mullen lite.

I disagree. Only because Eli is willing to recruit.

Mizzou had about 10 players out, including Badie. They played hard (except for #12 on the play above) and could have won. I thought Army would run right through them but Mizzou played tough.
And how does Mizzou have a 3* true freshman QB leading the team when ours never see the field? Not saying BVG should be starting, but he definitely should have seen more meaningful snaps this season so he’ll be ready next season, or if the starter goes down.
Big win for Army, but it was much closer than I would have thought.

I am unable to say the words Army and Go in the order you do, but I do root for them when they aren’t playing Navy.
But not Air Force. Annoying little brother is annoying. And the AF should just be reduced and rolled back into the Army anyway.

Thank you for your and all our other GTP commenter who served, but as I look out over the Academy this morning I’ll respond for the flyboys with 23 – 3. Merry Christmas to all you men and women who served and supported our armed forces!

Army was tough and outplayed Mizzou in the fourth quarter.

They missed Badie especially when the Mizzou backup RB fumbled on a key drive in the 2H. And they learned some costly lessons about defending the triple option. If you don’t commit to stopping the dive on every single play, you will get it run down your throat for 8ypc in soul-crushing drives that last half a quarter. Big kudos to Army, though. They went for it on 4th down in easy FG range, down 2, late, and scored a (passing!) TD. They used 3 QBs (out of necessity). And they drove it down with 1:30 remaining to kick the game-winning FG (a season long kick for the kicker). One of my favorite games this year.

As UGA Grad that spent 3 years in the Army and lives in Winston Salem, I really like this post. Hard not to be a WF fan, 5,000 undergrad students and compete at a high level.

Thanks! I live in the town of WF, though. Nice place, just no Deacs here after the move to Winston.

Drinkwitz is a clown. Running hurry-up offense down 5 and inside the 10-yd line with 1:20 left.

I was going to post this in the last thread about Mizzou the Senator had but decided against it. But now, I’m with you. I think he is a clown. Mizzou will be looking for another head coach in two years

I agree, but he punked Mullen and the Gators so he gets a pass from me. For now, at least.

#12 needs to go back to pee wee ball and learn how to tackle.

Plastered two teams that made Saban sweat bullets.
And UAB is a a pretty good team.
It was Bama that didn’t really play anyone except those two and the team that beat them.
I say the SECCG was some an anomaly. I sure hope we get to find out.

Sorry, but I was impressed Mizzou kept it close, honestly. Given the state of their defense, I thought Army would chew them up.

That “subpar Navy team” played Cincy closer than anyone else this season Notre Dame included. Once CKN took over play calling the offense got much better. The defense has been good and I’d say is probably better than Mizzou’s.

It reminded me of the 85 Peach Bowl (except the weather at Turned Field was awful). Army had an eight point lead with 5 to go and the illini drove the field, scored and went for two and missed it. There were 16 Peach Bowl records broken or tied and Jack Trudeau had 401 yards passing. Munson called the game!!!

I, being an old fart, miss the fullback. Georgia had some great ones. Seeing the Fullback lead the RB into the hole or on the sweep was a thing of beauty. I’m sure the modern linebackers are glad they are gone.

I miss the days of Southerland, Chapas, Haynes, and Wall pounding the ball up the middle for a 3 or 4 yard gain on 3rd and short. Seems like back then that short yardage conversions were almost a given with those guys.

Without a fullback, you don’t get P44 Haynes.
