Gator stew

Don’t worry, Will.  Urban’s got your back.

“I’ve sat in that chair and I know he doesn’t want to be bothered,” Meyer said. “If Will (Muschamp) texts me and wants to talk about something, I’m there for him. I talk to some of the players, but I’m laying low. I talk to more of the guys in the NFL than the current players.

“I’ll be rooting extremely hard for the Gators. I love Florida and I always will. It’s amazing to me that so many people don’t think they will win the East. I think they have a great shot at winning the East if the offensive line comes through.”

Never mind that Corch couldn’t do that last year.

Muschamp can look forward to a year when if things don’t go swimmingly, he’ll have his predecessor looking over his shoulder, speaking both privately with his former players and publicly through the WWL’s megaphone.  Throw in Charlie Weis’ ego and you’ve got some major entertainment potential in Gainesville.

He’s not just talking privately with former players, he’s also doing so with current guys. But, it’s less so with current players, so there’s really nothing to worry about there, right?

Here is to hoping a complete ax fight ensues amount all parties. Because if they survive thier schedule with success and harmony among Gator Nation the Conference is looking at some dark years ahead. October is the mother of all meat grinder stretches. It is four horsemen of the apocalypse nasty and Muschamp is national coach of the year if he wins the conference.

The 8-5 season was mind numbing. Pity them.

That’s right, viewers, ESPN analyst Urban Meyer is volunteering to help out the head coach at the University of Florida whenever he asks for it. But don’t worry, coaches, I’m sure anything you talk about with him during interviews or site visits will stay just between you and him.

    Those three deserve each other.

Given that Meyer won the SEC East in 3 of the 6 years he coached at Florida, I think his advice might be worth a listen.

As long as they lose on October 29, I don’t care what they do the rest of the month.

Ah, the wise ole Corch. What a font of sage advice. And he’s just down the hall, except when he’s in Bristol.

What happened to the NCAA not liking the fact that St Urban was working for both UF and ESPN? I thought this had been a no no. Something about a recruiting advantage.

I thought the same 69, but the recruiting angle will likely die down the longer that the current coach is there and the former is not. It’s not like they need an advantage, with the problems at Miami, et al.
