I love Carvell’s softball question on Tech’s motivations for going outside of Georgia. Are the Yellow Jackets forced to go outside of the state because they can’t find kids who can hack the academics? Of course not. I know of a few kids I was close to in Columbus who ended up playing at Tech who weren’t exactly high academic achievers. The fact is, in this state UGA is a much bigger draw. And beyond UGA, the other SEC schools also have huge followings and huge recruiting success. In Washington, DC, kids don’t know as much about the way Tech’s program operates and getting away to live in Atlanta sounds like a great experience. If Vandy can build bowl teams in this state, Georgia Tech should be able to build an ACC title contender. They’re getting their teeth kicked in around Georgia because kids don’t want to play in a program with dubious potential to put them on an NFL offense and because there are other winning programs hot on their trail.

At least Les finished ahead of Bielema.

I’m going to enjoy watching Bielema lose while he’s there. Of course, I liked watching Petrino lose as well. Strange, because I like Arkansas and the people there.

Agree. I would probably root for Arkansas when they’re not playing Georgia, given all the frustration and grief those kids and fans have endured over the last few years, except this dude is a dirtbag. I will also enjoy watching him lose.

  3. I love the world we live in where columnists are so charitable as to rank Dan Mullin ahead of a coach he is 0-4 against and really hasn’t come that close to beating since his first season in Starkville.

Recruits can get a free Google Voice # that they can give only to coaches and if the recruit’s “real # ” is disrespected by a school calling too much, he can mark them off his list. Yeah, until all schools calling say they are from a rival school such that the recruit will mark that school off their list. What a low brain power suggestion to use when the author had no idea how to resolve open communication problems.

I’m just thankful that Jeremy Hill was accepted to LSU after being charged with sexual battery (a 14-yr old was pressured into oral sex to Jeremy and another player) just before signing day in 2011. A 5.6 yd average makes him better than about 40 other receivers? Think not. Talking about sales puffery,….

“Former Redemptorist High running back Jeremy Hill, 19, pleaded guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenile, which is a misdemeanor.
He was originally charged with oral sexual battery.
The judge sentenced Hill to two years probation.”

Don’t ya just hate it when folks get away with shit?

Jeremy Hill was not a receiver he was recruited as a RB and averaged 5.6 yds per carry. Gurley’s was 6.3. As a receiver (Hill) he hit close to 10 yards per reception. It’s called google. Anyone can do it. Just don’t step in it.
