Believe it or not, Georgia appeared on CBS more times this season than Alabama did.

They definitely got their money’s worth. We are very entertaining to say the least.

no appearances by south carolina or missouri, for some reason.

I think you can logically blame Aaron Murray for this…

Good point. And hardly a peep from the announcers or UGA in all those games that AM ought to be considered a heisman candidate!
Woulda, coulda, shoulda indeed!

W Cobb, CBS Sports had Aaron Murray on the Heisman list during the game for the first few weeks until he lost twice. If anything they helped his cause, not hurt it

That Vanderbilt game still pisses me off. 3 losses to Clemson, Missouri and Auburn are understandable. Clemson was very good and we were on the road, Missouri ended up being very good, and Auburn is what it is. We had them beat but shit happens. We had too many injuries and were too young in the secondary to be a great team ourselves.
However, the Vandy game was robbed from us by horrible officiating. It shouldn’t have been as close as it was but damn if we weren’t fucked in that game.
LikeLike
As badly as we played, the officiating was the reason that was an L. I know it shouldn’t have been that close to allow those calls to change the outcome but where does it say we have to overcome incompetence several times a year? The outcry to the SEC office should come from all teams as no one knows what to expect week to week and their seems to be no urgency to address the situation. This isn’t a random occurrence and the badly missed calls are visible in every game. We all expect excellence/perfection from our coaches and players yet give a pass to something that can be easily corrected. Between training for consistency, officials getting together for discussions, and actually using the benefit of replay, there is just no excuse for horrendous missed calls in every game. Vandy game will serve as the “what not to call” on targeting, and we got burned twice in that one game….one the CLEAR game winner on a flag thrown from the official furthest from the action.

I want to blame the zebra’s for this loss too, but the fact our D let a backup QB lead Vandy to 17 points in the 4th QTR cannot be over looked.

If we are correctly given the 4th down stop we get the ball back and the tenor of the game at point completely changes.

Georgia would have had a 13 point lead with 10 minutes to play and the ball at the 30. Game over. Instead, Vandy gets a 1st down at our 15 and scores a TD 6 plays later. Completely flipped the game.

Yep that’s the one that really pisses me off. As big a robbery as the Al Ford & Marc Curles heists.

I see why Darth Commissioner Slive picked TAM to join the SEC. They bring viewers and viewers equal $$$’s.
LikeLike
A&M has only brought viewers because of Manziel. Once he’s gone, assuming they don’t have another player who becomes the most compelling player in the sport, they won’t be as interesting or draw as many viewers. The tune-in factor has been because of him.

I don’t know about that, Newt. Texas is a state rich in talent and TAM is the only program that can boast of being in the SEC….Kids get it that the SEC is the premier conference. I say they’ll recruit better than we can hope and will, after a post-Manziel lag, build a hell of a program. And Missouri is on the NW corner of the SEC region…everthing to the north and west of them will be their home recruiting territory (for kids interested in playing in the SEC, that is). Things have changed and will never be the same again.

Ug, do you think aTm’s addition to the SEC will make it easier for UGA to recruit in Texas?
LikeLike
Not as much as the SEC network will, assuming the cable companies here offer it (which is where aTm comes in). But that works for nearly all of the SEC, not just UGA. LSU could be the net loser as far as an SEC team mining Texas more than any other pre-expansion.

I don’t know. But if the answer is “yes” then how much easier will it be for the rest of the SEC to recruit in TX? I think TAM is the big winner here. They’ll never get all of Texas’ best, but they’ll get a better share than ever before.

I wonder how these ratings stack up against their other programing?

The ratings surprised me. More viewers for Bama/TAMU than the Iron Bowl? And more viewers for UGA/UT than the WLOCP? Does not compute.
