I got an email from a faithful reader pointing me to a vlog published by Matt Wyatt, a former Mississippi State quarterback. If you are interested in seeing some Xs and Os before Saturday’s game, it’s definitely worth your attention this week. I’ll give you two examples.
Here’s his breakdown of several plays from Georgia’s win over Notre Dame.
And here’s some film study of the LSU-MSU game.
If you get the opportunity, spend a half-hour of your time to watch both.
I love the breakdowns. A fun watch.

Definitely. Awesome breakdowns. Dude has video production skills too.

That was a fun watch. It helps understand the assignments. If both teams play to their abilities, this could be one of the best SEC match-ups of the year.

Miss St put on a clinic in power football against LSU. Watching that video acted like a cold shower. I think UGAs front 7 is better than LSUs, but damn..

Good analysis. It sure didn’t make me feel any better about Simmons.

Know doubt our OL will struggle against their front 7. This looks to be shaping up as a defensive game. Special teams may play a deciding factor.

Great stuff. Its a shame that people screaming at each other and trying to predict the playoff is what keeps the lights on, because this sort of thing would be amazing to see a lot more often on television. When you consider the wealth of football knowledge most of the talking heads at ESPN actually have, its not that complicated. It ain’t like these random guys in their basement with a web cam are the only ones who are capable of doing it.
Instead, about once a day they bring in some guy they prop up as a “guru” to breakdown a single play from the previous week. And they all act amazed.

That’s why I love listening to Russ Tanner on Friday morning.

Good stuff, however he took credit away from my man Rodrigo for his game winning FG. 😉
This guy is good, though. I’d much rather watch him than the screaming heads on TV.
I’m predicting 3-2 on Saturday night. They get 2 when we fumble in the endzone early. We get 3 after a long return of the second half kickoff.

But we are supposed to hate zone blocking on here. Aren’t we?

Zone blocking works fine against undisciplined and lesser talented teams.

Tyler Clark picked up that ND guard like he was a tackle dummy……..my goodness.

LSU looks young and undisciplined. Our defense is capable of containing Fitzgerald and keep it low scoring. Our ability to open holes for the RB is what has me concerned. If we can get any sort of run game going we can wear them down on defense. They don’t have the depth we do in that side of the ball.

If by chance we can string together a couple of first downs, I’d love to see us hurry up and try to catch Grantham substituting.
On the other hand, I’d hate to give Mullens the idea since Kirby likes to substitute so much I’m afraid we’re going to get caught sometime.

I think he is right this is gonna be a slugfest.
