LMAO.  You’re trying too hard with this, Danny.

Kanell said that UCF would go “toe-to-toe” with this Georgia team, citing UCF’s impressive offense, and how Georgia played against last year’s Oklahoma team in the Rose Bowl.

“You didn’t hear anybody complain about that game, when Georgia gave up over 500 yards of total offense, nobody had a problem with that,” Kanell said. “And Oklahoma almost won with an incredible offense and a sub-par defense. Does that sound familiar? That’s exactly what UCF has.”

… Kanell also added that because UCF is used to giving up points— Temple scored 40 on them— it would be better equipped than Georgia to win a shoot-out.

“They go up-tempo. They’re used to getting scored on, Georgia’s not,” he said. “That game would come down to the wire just the same way the Rose Bowl did.”

UCF has played this season’s 106th ranked strength of schedule, according to Sagarin.  Oklahoma’s 2017 SOS?  7th.

When you’re an SEC hammer like Danny, everything looks like a nail.

If the Dawgs beat Bama in the SEC Championship Game, it will be such a pleasure watching Kanell’s head explode when two SEC teams make the BCS playoffs. Damn I hope the Dawgs win.

Me too, but I hope and think you’re wrong about the consequences. Unless a bunch of other stuff happens in the next 15 days, Dec. 1 is an elimination game. And should be. And I want it to be.

If we have to beat those fuckers twice, that will piss me the fuck off mainly because I don’t think we can pull it off. Our best shot is in the dome with perhaps a still hobbled Tua. If we knock them off I want to see Clemson in game 1 and the winner of ND/UM in Cali.

Then we win. That’s the plan. Stop fucking with my plan!

Agree it is an elimination game, and should be. No way the Committee gives you a rematch of week 1 between UM and ND. Lot of water yet to cross for most of these teams, but in a perfect world, we would beat Clemson in the finale, let Clemson take out one Big 14 team, us the other. Oh wait…..forgot, ND is actually in the ACC.

Plot twist: we beat Bama and Michigan loses to Ohio State, but Oklahoma, not Ohio State, secures the 4th playoff spot. We then play ND in the first round and OU (who’s upset Clemson) in the championship, reprising last year’s two best games. Kirby’s familiarity with both teams propels us to victory. Hey, a man can dream!

If there’s something more satisfying than playing and beating either UM or ND for a natty, I don’t know what it is…and I’d probably better stay away from it.

I’m with Derek on this one. It should be an elimination game. If we somehow were to beat Alabama, and if Auburn’s defensive line can manage to hobbleTua a little more I think it’s very possible, I don’t want them to just get in anyway. That both makes the SEC championship irrelevant and just totally cements the precedent that Alabama can kind of just do whatever they want. And I don’t want to have to play them a second time. Plus, beating ND or Michigan for the national title would be glorious.

Agree with you vector, I will take a W anyway on December 1 because they stole (or handed) a game from us last January, but the satisfaction of winning against whatever they can bring would be more satisfying.

Kannell either ignores criteria so he can have his hot takes, or he’s bad at being an analyst. Neither situation is good. He should not be employed.

He is rapidly becoming Mr. Irrevelant. He was being interviewed last spring on ESPN U, where he was advocating an 8 team playoff. One of the questions asked was, “would you be okay with 2 SEC Teams beingin the 8”

Answer: Yes, as long as they were on the same side of the bracket. This tells you everything you need to know…

What are the chances, if UGA loses to Bama, UGA gets UCF in a bowl game?

The following tie-ins exist for bowls in the years they are not hosting the national semifinals:

      Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1
      Sugar Bowl — SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1
Orange Bowl — ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame
Cotton Bowl — at-large or “Group of Five” (committee selection)
Fiesta Bowl — at-large or “Group of Five” (committee selection)
Peach Bowl — at-large or “Group of Five” (committee selection)

So it could happen. If we are SEC #2 and the Orange Bowl takes the Big 10 team, We would likely be in line for the Cotton Bowl?
Not that I want this to happen, but should we lose to Bama it would be OK if we got the opportunity to make UCF STFU.

        • stoopnagle

The Orange and Cotton are semi-finals this year.

The Rose will be B1G vs Pac-12; the Sugar will be SEC vs BigXII; Fiesta or Peach will get the G5 team.

          Like

    • stoopnagle

I think they’re low, actually. If LSU wins out and we win our next two but lose in ATL, does LSU jump us? If yes, then we’re in the Peach Bowl and there’s a small chance we see UCF. If we stay ahead of LSU, we’ll go to the Sugar and there’s 0% chance we play UCF.

I think if UCF wins out, they’ll get sent to the Fiesta since they were in the Peach last year, but you never know with bowl games.

      • Tony Barnfart

Would the Sugar/Peach rather have the home state team or the team that books hotel rooms ? Butts in the seats aren’t a problem either way. Not sure who determines who is on top, the conference commish ? Both fan bases travel well and we haven’t been to NOLA since 07 season.

Send Louisiana to Georgia and Georgia to Louisiana.

If we beat Bama, and that is a big big if, I hope we jump to third. I don’t think a notre dame 12-0 should be ahead of a 12-1 SEC champion. Let it be Clemson, Michigan, UGA, ND. Whoever has ND is going to beat them. But no if Bama loses they should not be let back in. The committee won’t pass on Notre Dame if they win out, or Michigan if they carry their conference.

I’ve got one: UCF defeated Georgia in a BOWL GAME last time they played. That settles it!

Translation: UCF is really bad at defense so they’re better equipped to handle a shootout than Georgia’s good defense which actually stops opponents…er, wut. How did that work out for OU last year in the Rose Bowl? That is one of the dumbest takes I have ever heard in an Industry that is full of them.

Having difficulty deciding if Little Danny Boy is worse as a QB, or analyst? I am leaning toward analyst since I had to endure him on Sirius for years in the 1 PM time slot. He is a little man. That said, what a disappointing way to finish a season if we get stuck with the turds from CF. Miserable bunch of whiny fans attending the game would make it really bad. More incentive for our guys December 1.

Danny Kennel once told Colin Cowherd, live and on the radio show, that he once slept through a morning workout in college and and the half ass u QB coach called his parents and told on him and then laughed because he thought it was funny.
