Tech hires a new coach and the play by play guy is feelin’ it.
Bless his heart.
LOL.
And to think some of you are ready to toss this rivalry in the trash can. It’s always better when the Jackets get a little cocky.

Congratulations to Atlanta United on joining Georgia Tech as the last two football teams from Georgia to win a title.

Georgia Southern has won 2 national championships since Tech. Valdosta State has won 3….

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
They are so pathetic. I know Kirby wanted to get the guys some rest before the Bama game, but 6:09 was there for the taking. We could have beaten them by 70 if we had wanted to.
I didn’t even know the guy was a play by play guy last night when I was looking at my Twitter feed. Does anyone even listen to a Fech radio broadcast?

Especially given it turned out to be Johnson’s last game against us, I’d have really liked to shut out their offense. Should have done it.

You mean Wes Durham is not tech’s play by play guy any more?

Not for a few years. He “upgraded” to the Falcons full time.

Say what one will, I like Wes Durham. I think he’s a pretty good play-by-play guy.

He’s very good. He’s probably the best mix of old school homer and the newer cookie cutter guys who have all the lingo and knowledge but lack heart imo.

Atlanta United plays soccer, nerds. That’s why what they won is called the MLS cup, not the MLF cup. Now piss off wanker!

Not a big argument, but the rest of the world calls it football.

When I was a kid, we called it kickball.

Yeah, because “one world” is such a thingy, and Tech is such a trendsetter. Metric system anyone? Do the Braves play cricket now that the nerds decide how Atlanta defines? Bless their hearts.

I agree. Comparing that wussy, flopping, European kickball to a man’s sport is typical tech. Hell, half the people in the state don’t even know there’s pro soccer in Atlanta.

GT could learn a few things about building and marketing a program from the Atlanta United organization.
But GT’s arrogance won’t allow it.

He’ll get an education just as soon as he hits the recruiting trail…
Gone after 4 and only that long because he has a 7 year deal.
We’ll quit playing them in about 10 more.

Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth. Plan away, nerds. The legendary genius, Fish Fry, for all his specialty offensive wizardry and big, tough talk, was 3-8 versus UGA. One could argue all 3 wins were aided by abysmal UGA strategy, in that UGA blew 4th quarter leads in all 3. In any event, that anemic 27% winning percentage is not exactly the stuff of dreams, unless your dream was to be mediocre. Chan Gailey recruited pretty well, but got run off because he couldn’t beat UGA by doing what we do. I’m sure we all look forward ro welcoming GTU’snew coach to our home away from home in 2019.We haven’t lost there this century, and only lost once, on the worst call in history, in the last 30 years.
Talking tough and banning red in the building won’t help much next November. Keep trying to throw shade by referencing other teams, clearly GTU has nothing to brag about since today’s freshmen’s parents were middle schoolers.

They may try to ban red but they’re getting a red flag planted in the middle of their field next November.

Understand the sentiment. Going out of our way to make some kind unsportsmanlike gesture, however, lowers ourselves to their Hedge-ripping antics. A program of our caliber should simply GATA or CYAL and act like whipping their asses is not a big deal to us. While losing to that sorry program is a living hell, beating them feels nothing like beating UF, Aub, UT or Bama.

Would you settle for a “We Run This State” sign held up on the sidelines?

Agree, just another win but below an SEC game. And we don’t need to have a get even moment with such a program or group of fans. Let Ga.State, or Valdosta get pumped up by beating them, the gap is definitely closing. A We Run This State sign is more a reminder than a celebration, so that is all we need.

When did the trade school win an undisputed national championship?
I think Andy Dementia is confused. Colorado won the national championship the year that Bobby Ross was coaching.

What’s really sad is this kickball game superseded the GHSA football championships. These kids deserved better. A sad day in Georgia sports.

How much $ would the ghsa games put in the pockets of the city of atl? That’s what it’s all about. You are correct, the kids got shafted.

The games are still going to be played in the building and on TV. It’s not like they are moving the games back to campus (where they should be anyway).

I had to rewatch 12/1 yesterday …. JR Reed recovered a CLEARLY bobbling ball from #8 in the endzone. That is a free 7 points for the Crimson menace just before the half. And it leaves me trying hard to understand the forces at work to keep Alabama preeminent.
LikeLike
I can’t do it … the replay official should have stated that the call on the field should have stood.

I don’t know, it looked like he had full possession momentarily in the end zone. I agree you can split hairs about video evidence BS but it looked like the right call to me…certainly not on the same level as the Simmons being offsides disaster (and for sure gamechanger.)
I do wonder how in the heck did he even have the opportunity to regrasp that ball on a goal line play in a scrum, that just doesn’t happen for the original ball carrier to have first shot at it.

If you Super slo-mo anything, you can get whatever outcome you want. The evidence wasn’t clear that the call on the field should have been overturned. It was #BamaPrivilege.
LikeLike
Admittedly it was in slo-mo..but he did seem to possess it..he even tilted it up little to show the refs. But either way, the point is that with even the slimmest reason (or excuse) to help Bama out, everyone in the world knows which way a call will go.
Indeed, Tyler Simmons wasn’t even close to being offsides.
Georgia beat Alabama for the NCT and the refs stole it.
LikeLike
No chance that he indisputably possessed enough to change the call. Even on slow motion his hands are on it for less than a second.

I’d be all about blaming the refs but this coaching staff did as much to lose that game as the refs did. Same thing in the SECC and NC. An unfortunate trend.
