Respect the cupcake

So, the guy who devoted time at every practice last season preparing for Georgia Tech’s triple option doesn’t have a single staffer breaking down tape of the Irish this week?

Arkansas State must have more than just a helluva long snappah.

No reason not to believe him, nothing special in what ND runs.

Glad, we no longer have to prepare for that flexbone/ triple option offense (GT).

    Define “staff”.
Do I believe that any of the 10 asst coaches are working on ND this week? No.
Do I believe a certain number of support staffers are working on ND this week?
    You bet.

I did an article for Grantland about the Arkansas State program in 2014 (when they were coming off the whole four-head-coaches-in-four-years stretch). It’s a strong, well-run program that had managed to keep winning in spite of the coaching turmoil, and there have been more than a few instances in recent years of name-brand programs inviting the Red Wolves over for a big payday and getting a bigger challenge than they expected. They’ve been through some uncertainty lately with the head coach taking a leave of absence after his wife died of cancer, but I still think they’re good enough to potentially give us a Nicholls-type situation if all of our guys are focused on Notre Dame.

The only way players could be focused on ND would be to play like their hair was on fire against the Red Wolves in order to attract attention and play in the ND game

Been to 8 straight bowl games. Also beat some decent teams & gave some bigger schools all they wanted along the way.

Can’t see them looking ahead or working on ND at all until ND week is here.

      Georgia State’s happen.

      • With the size of the staff Kirby has at hand, I’d hate to think they’re totally incapable of multitasking.

Somebody’s been breaking down ND tape, Greg.

More than likely so, but he is not devoting time preparing the team for Arkansas State week as you imply.

            I wasn’t implying shit.

LOL!!….” I wasn’t implying shit”??? ….”devoted time at every practice”

Key word in your statement full or otherwise was practice. I think we both know what you were saying.

It is of my opinion that he is not spending time every practice preparing his team for ND this week…..I believe him.

Does he have staffers breaking down film and preparing ahead of time for ND???…possibly.

      Doug, do you still write?

Here and there, but nothing for a wide audience. I did recently finish a screenplay that I’d been working on literally for years, trying to see if I can get it in front of someone important . . . which puts me in an exclusive group of only about seven million people in L.A. County. ; )

          keep writing!

Athens native and Dawg fan Dan Ewen has been out there for 20 years hustling and finally gets to see a script on the big screen this fall.

I hope they spend the extra time saved by not prepping for the triple option this year preparing for Alabama’s backup.

With the exception of Fromm and Rodrigo, everyone on the Georgia team is still competing for playing time.

ND has played only 1 game. They analyzed it last week.

Still think you are way too sensitive, nothing personal….but when you are wrong you are wrong. Just admit it and move on and without the attacks….not a good look for you, my man. Ban me if you want, don’t really care….but it’s the truth.

Enjoy your blog, been reading it for years and have promoted it…best damn blog “out here on these internets”…..until you attack your readers. You are certainly spot on most of the time, this is just not one of them.

Take it FWIW, or don’t…..peace brother!

The coaches are a week ahead of the players. The staffers are a week ahead of that. The gameplan for ND will be completed this Sunday for installation on Monday with the players. The staffers should be done breaking down ND. They should be doing their bye week summarization tasks and breaking down Tennessee.

I would take Kirby’s comment to mean that none of the coaches are working with the players with regard to ND this week. It would be highly unusual if they were.
