The legend grows.

PFF ranks the top ten true freshmen here.  Look who’s at the head of the list:

1. TE BROCK BOWERS, GEORGIA BULLDOGS

Bowers has earned an 89.4 PFF grade and generated 3.50 yards per route run so far in his true freshman campaign. That’s not just an unprecedented level of production for a true freshman, it’s at a level rarely obtained by any player at the position. Bowers leads all Power Five tight ends in both of those metrics after Week 7. With his speed, explosiveness and ball skills, Bowers fits the modern-day tight end mold. He’s destined to be a household name and is already a college football star.

We’ll really know he’s made it when they know his name in Montana.

Basically, he’s exactly what we thought Arik Gilbert would be. (Or, at least I thought Gilbert would be.) Say, that reminds me: Damn, this offense would be good if we had all those receivers playing.

    • The receivers and better guard play. The backs aren’t as explosive as what we’re accustomed to, but they’re good enough if the OL were more consistent.

Exactly! Big, fast, great hands, matchup nightmare, versatile enough to line up anywhere. Bowers has been the find of the season, although McConkey has also been a pleasant surprise. For a team without probably 4 or 5 of its anticipated to 5 or 6 receivers, missing both starting guards, and its number 2 QB at the controls most of the year, the O is doing ok, huh?

I know we’ve seen it before, but when he turned on the jets on that would be touchdown on that quick screen…wowzers. The kid can move.

Every NFL scout and GM is already drooling over getting that kid. Pitts may have been the first top 10 draft pick at the position, but there will be another in a couple of years most likely.

On behalf of all Sunday morning armchair QBs and HCs, I happily acknowledge that we’ve been right all these years, …no decades. “Throw it to the TEs” is the best strategy!

Georgia’s had a pretty good run of tight ends going back to the early 2000s, but with a healthy Washington, they have two legitimately great ones at the moment.

And we get him for 2 more years! If he stays healthy, he’ll be a household name and a Day 1 pick for sure.

Let’s just see what the FU dc has in that Walmart bag of tricks for #19 and the rest of his friends or will that FU dc sit on the opposite sideline thinking “we had a good run in this town”…#FTMF

Hes got the name of a modern day 70s Action Hero, rebooted. Meet Brock Bowers, the man, the myth…able to crush anvils with his hands, chew through walls in one bite, etc…”
