Stetson may not have played a perfect game…

… but he did throw a perfect pass.

It was even better watching it live.  Trust me on that.

I’d say it was more a great catch than perfect pass. But let’s not quibble.

  2. It was a perfect call by Monken and well executed by the offense – nicely blocked, Stetson threw it where only his guy was getting it, and Kearis made a great play on it.

Looks as though #10’s condition/health is at or near 100% (that FU db was beat) his punt returns had authority/confidence…kinda’ looked as though that’s how it’s done during practice sessions…

  3. But unfortunately there will still be a lot of people who question him. “We can’t beat Bama with him……. Blah, blah, blah….

The Stetson’s Revenge tour sure has been fun! I don’t know when it will end (I’m putting as little thought into that as possible), I’m just enjoying this young man’s journey.

He is legend now; we’ll tell our children’s children the tale of the 5’7″ scrapper no big school wanted. A DGD who lacked the measurables, but bled Red & Black and possessed the heart of a lion (or bulldog, maybe); beating ranked team after ranked team when called upon.

Oh, and I’m sure we’ll also tell them we had a pretty good defense that year, too 😀

  5. Matt Stafford is a star in the NFL. Aaron Murray set all kinds of passing records. But Buck Belue won the MNC. I’m fine letting Kirby and Monken putting the right guy in position for us to win.

Buck Belue, for his era and the offense Georgia was running, was a very good player. He was far better than any other QB Dooley had in his I-formation period. It also isn’t 1980. Maybe Georgia’s defense is good enough to stuff even the very good offenses they’ll face down the road, but more likely, someone will score at least in the 20s at some point. If Georgia has to throw to keep pace, Daniels gives them the best shot at it. Of course, if he doesn’t get and/or stay healthy, it’s all moot anyway.

      • Current Scoring Defense Rankings:

        OSU – 20
        BAMA – 31
        OU – 56
        CINCI – 2

        UK – 32
        FL – 48
        AU – 24
        ARK – 53
        CLEM – 3

The teams we have down the road may score a bunch, but with the exception of 1, their defenses aren’t vastly superior to what we’ve already faced… mostly with Stet at the helm, and a depleted WR room.

Our defense knocks every offense it faces off their pedestal, but our offense remains similarly consistent against most defenses, with Clemson being the major outlier of competent programs (no, I’m not including Vandy or UAB).

If practice says Stet is the man, give him the ball.

AM completed one (1) pass in the NC Sugarbowl against ND.

I’ve been beating the JTD > SB4 drum, FPD. But you are 100% right. None of it matters if we are good enough to win another MNC. I’m on board with that. I do 100% trust CKS & CTM at this point. They’ve not only earned it, they deserve our success. The rest is only noise. Let’s keep on trucking.

Personally, being originally from south GA (SB4) and having lived in south CA for ~20 years (JTD), I’d surely be a huge fan of each QB even if they weren’t Dawgs, but very thankful they are both DGDs.

I think Buck completed one pass finally in the fourth quarter ?

Yes. 1-11 for the game, but the 1 came at the end when we needed a 1st down to eat clock and preserve the lead. Buck was clutch, even on a bad day for him.

I will say that the decision to start Bennett didn’t shock me but the fact that we never saw JT was strange. Especially considering some of what Bennett did. Some believe it was because Grantham was doing the only thing he seems to know how to do which is blitz, blitz, blitz, and maybe that’s right. It was a weird game offensively. The power game seemed like it was there. If JT’s absence wasn’t due to the rush or him not being as ready as Smart made out then it makes sense but otherwise it’s hard to understand.

I think they don’t want to risk aggravating JT’s injuries when they don’t need to in order to get the win.

Why set him back a couple of weeks if you’ve got the game in hand?

Had we gone into half only up 3-0 (or worse) all of that may have changed.

BINGO! Kirby said about JT “didn’t feel like he had much pain during the week” . In other words he is still not 100%.The way Grantham likes to blitz, having a more mobile QB was the better choice yesterday. The upcoming cupcake run of MO, Charleston Southern, and GT will give JT the time to knock off the rust with a lower chance of injury before the SECCG. TN at Kneeland may be Stetsons given the history of injury disaster there for us.

Yeah I think you’re probably right about that. Some of the stuff I hear and see out there about this is just dumb. For instance, one of the first callers last night on the post game immediately launched into what a “moron” Kirby is and this whole thing was his reason why. They cut him off, thanked him for his call, and moved on. And Uncle Lou is an alcoholic jackass. I’m not sure why there are Georgia fans that take him seriously.

Yes, agree and don’t see why this is so hard for some to grasp. I’m sure they’d be the first to blame Kirby if JT went in and UF broke him on a late hit or sack. Stet’s wheels were the perfect antidote to the 3rd&Grantham constant pass rush. The O didn’t play great and we still put a beat down on the swamp lizards!

      Ex Cooley,
I think JT was not being as ready as Kirby made out.
      Kirby hates turnovers.
If JT was ready, I think he would have played after the first, if not the second interception.
I don’t think McIntosh played after his fumble.

Yeah Kirby said something after the game about JT not totally pain free. The FU pass rush was strong and probably gets to JT why take a chance if not needed.

All he has done is be a exceptional dawg. Didn’t hear him pout or complain when he lost the starting position last year. Was ready to come in for JT this year. Didn’t have his best game, and hopefully this is a learning moment so that it doesn’t occur when it matters. He has cemented his legacy for me regardless.

Just imagine you are the QB that beat FL for UGA. It wasn’t pretty and our O stats are awful, several one strike scores though. It’s a wild ride this year. ‘07 vibes.

I know you’re not really comparing this team to the ‘07 bunch but I will say this team is so much better than that team it’s unreal. And I’m convinced that ‘07 was the best team in college football from the Florida game on. I’m not sure what happened with them. Losing to that awful SC team, getting their doors blown off in Knoxville, barely beating Vandy, and then transforming into a killer that nobody wanted to play.

My asshole Clemson people across the street gave up on football and put up their Christmas lights this weekend. We like it, except for the traffic and the stupid music they play every night BEFORE THANKSGIVING EVERY YEAR. Naturally, they’re sidewalk fans so they give up easily and hold on tight as ever when they win. Sorry for the bad photo, from my second floor office window through the birch tree that has few leaves left on it.
