The most NSFW thing I’ve ever posted

As someone who believes that what a coach says in the halftime locker room to motivate his team should stay in the locker room, I don’t approve of whomever taped Kirby Smart at the Cocktail Party on the sly and then released it, but…

… I defy any Dawg fan to listen to that and not immediately want to find a wall to run through.

I don’t think Kirby cares for Florida.  I also don’t think he’d ever dance in the locker room after giving up 52 points to Samford.

This is the season we’ve been waiting for. Kirby is the coach we always wanted. What a time to be a Georgia fan.

It sure as hell is. From handing out “signature wins” in 2010 and 2016 to handing out moral victories in 2021. The Gamecoots actually score a TD. Auburn actually gets to lead in the first quarter for two or three minutes. Kentucky gets to beat the spread and lose by only 17 instead of 23. Florida manages – barely – to avoid the dreaded shutout. Tennessee actually manages to score 17 (never mind that our guys put up 41) – a truly appropriate “treat” for a team dressed in children’s Halloween outfits. An era of granting moral victories. I love it!

Just think about how you felt walking out of Neyland in 2009- the “arena” game- on the other end of a 41-19 bloodletting. Disgraced. Angry.

Twelve years later, 41-17 on the same field, and the Vols are practically beating their chests over making it to seventeen with a late score. “We’re a good team, too.” That’s their world now, and we’re where we want to be.

This is a big deal, and will continue to be a big deal in the minds of Dan MuLLLLLen and his staff in years to come. Sure, some of them are already fired, and the rest will likely be fired at season’s end, but they’ll remember it next year. Perhaps while absorbing another ass kicking.

From what I read an SEC film crew was in the locker room filming. Part of this was recorded and released with beeps. But obviously there was an unedited version. Not saying 100% it’s the SEC recording it and let it slip but it’s what I read last night.

Shockley was there for the radio coverage and during his half time bit he said the locker room coverage would have to be edited for the next episode on SEC Inside.

Is that how Knute Rockne did it?

    Liked by 4 people

    • Yes, most people don’t know that Knute originally said, lets go out there and win one for that mudderfugger Gipp and the team went crazy. On the way out of the locker room, one of his assistants told him, “great speech, but we’ll have to tone it down a bit when they make a movie” Rockne said lets just say I called him the Gipper and go with that.

      And the rest is history.

Senator, far be it for me to give you suggestions on what to post, but if you haven’t seen yesterday’s interview with Devonte Wyatt, at least give it look. Pretty interesting. He has really come into his own after years in the program and hearing him talk about when he knew this defense was going to be special was interesting. He said it was after the Clemson game. They knew. But what I really loved was when he was asked about what he would say to players thinking about coming to Georgia. He smiled, shook his head and said, “If you’re not tough, don’t come here. If you aren’t mentally strong, don’t come here. If you aren’t willing to work hard, don’t come here. If you think you’re going to be bigger than the program and do what you want to do, don’t come here.” We’ve all said we had always wondered what it felt like to be an Alabama fan. I think we are finding out.

I once had a magic genie grant me a wish. I thought about it and wished to know what it feels like to be a Bama fan.
After the genie granted my wish, I started craving Skoal and noticing that my sister is kinda’ hot. When I sat down to read, there was a comic book on the table where the novel I’d been reading was supposed to be. I walked out the backdoor and there were two pit bulls tied to a riding lawnmower that had flat tires and was missing the engine cowling. One of the dogs had a scarlet scarf around his neck with an A on it.
My neighbors drove past my house in their truck with two Auburn flags flapping in the bed.
They flipped me the bird. I returned the gesture.
As soon as their truck turned off our gravel road onto the highway, I went over and poisoned their Chinaberry Tree. If they’d had any shrubbery, I’d had gotten it too.
But things took a turn for the better when I went to the mailbox and had a letter from the University of Alabama offering me a professorship when and if I finally got my GED. I thought that was cool.
When I finally decided to sit down and reflect on my wish to feel like a Bama fan, I regretted it. I didn’t like it.
I questioned my hasty wish out loud…”What could be worse?”
Just then my wife came out of the bedroom holding a magic lantern and wearing jorts.

My first thought was Johnson and Cox after hearing Wyatt’s statement. Channing Tindall is not even a starter and leads the team in tackles. He could have left and been THE MAN somewhere else.

And I thought about how in the past we just seemed soft compared to the better teams. I’m just going to leave it at that because I don’t want to sound like I’m dumping on Mark Richt. Look at the teams we’ve played in the following weeks. The Georgia Effect is a heck of a thing. Teams are just physically beaten up so badly after playing Georgia that it carries into their next game. Nobody enjoys playing Georgia anymore and it’s a great thing to see.

Here’s the thing I’ve been telling my Florida friends that they refused to acknowledge up until now: we had an inherent advantage with Kirby, as he got his crap pushed in three out of four years as a player at Georgia. He also was born and raised in Georgia fan and knows what this rivalry means.

Mullen, meanwhile, had no exposure to the rivalry, and he played it as small school in Pennsylvania during the ’90s. And he went on to be an assistant at other small northeastern schools and finally got exposure to rivalry 15 years or so ago for small period for moving on to Mississippi State.

So really should be no surprise to hear Kirby sound like this, all while Mullen is calmly telling his players in the locker room to ‘not let go of the rope.’ (his locker room motivational speeches always have been pathetic.)

I agree that this was most likely intentionally leaked, especially assigned day nears and we are in many close battles with top recruits. Especially after seeing how the Texas assistant was praise for his rant, again the timing and everything makes perfect sense.

I’m in the deliberate “leak” for recruiting purposes camp, but it’s still fun to hear. Assuming Georgia closes the deal this year, it will be fun to see the full reality sink in with rival fanbases in the conference.

Over on the Florida board they are losing their shit over this. Half of them are jealous and the other half is saying, “We are gonna hire Lane Kiffin and out an end to this!” Kirby would eat Lane Kiffin alive.

Why in the world would Lane Kiffin leave Ole Miss to go to FLORIDA when LSU, USC, etc. are all open and looking for him, too? God, don’t ever change, Gators. Don’t ever change.

Florida is a better job, but I’m not sure that’s some no-brainer move here in 2021. Ole Miss has upped their profile pretty substantially since the Cutcliffe and Houston Nutt days. Even if Freeze was cheating his ass off to get that started. The town / college experience is probably 2nd to only Athens. It’s not Starkville or Auburn, and people know that now a lot more than they used to. They are also pretty hyper focused on staying up to date on facilities and player tangibles because they have to be.

Ole Miss can probably stay pretty competitive in a salary bidding war.
Not saying they win it, but I don’t think they have to in order to keep him in town. Florida has a pretty strong Texas vibe from their donor class and, as I understand it, are a little behind in the arms race and it sounds like they have to be dragged kicking and screaming to not rest on their laurels. (who’s heard that before ?!?!). Lane is Lane, so who knows, but I would gladly keep the status quo of tons of money at a place that worships me and I’m clearly competitive than go try and pull Kirby Smart’s nuts out of my throat while whipping the AD and donors into line in order to be able to do that.

Kiffin has a huge ego and thinks he’s a lot better than he is so he might take them up on it but I don’t think he will for the reasons that you mention. He will be forgiven at Ole Miss for not being able to topple Saban in the west. At Florida he will be in the hot seat the first time Kirby stomps his ass.

I think that Lane stays at Ole Miss. He’s done the high stress thing at USC and knows that he’s gotta good gig. If he beats msu regularly and stays even with LSU he’ll be ok. It could be even better after realignment if they go to pods. The Ole Miss fans don’t require a natty to stay happy.

This is when you can tell who played a little or a lot and who did not:

If anyone is shocked by this, then they didn’t play a lick of competitive football. If anyone is surprised that Kirby wanted to break them, then they haven’t watched Georgia’s style of play. Heupel has been walking around with his feelings hurt ever since the game. It wasn’t that he got beat, it’s that Georgia physically beat his team up and he knew it.

The one difference. Kirby is a DAWG. Not just a coach hired to coach the Dawgs. He’s a Dawg. He grew up a Dawg. He played as a Dawg and was on the wrong end of those games with Florida and Tennessee in the 90’s. You don’t forget that stuff…

    And now… It’s his turn…

As for teams in Orange… I don’t care if you can’t get over it. But you better get used to it. Kirby is 4-6 against Florida (4 out of the last 5), and 5 out of 6 verses UT (5 straight).

  22. Meh.

I appreciate his energy, passion, and, overall, the points he was getting across, but the language is a put-off for me.

I totally get that it isn’t intended for me — I’m an almost-40-year-old guy who’s never been “in the arena.”

To be clear, it’s not even “shit” or “fuck” that’s the most off-putting, it’s the calling the other team “bitches” that bothers me. I realize it’s just the way many people talk (especially young people), but …. meh.

I know my statement is eye-roll-inducing for most who’ll read this, but there it is.
