It’s not you, Stetson, it’s us.

Oh, that Stetson Bennett narrative ($$).

Stetson Bennett, Georgia: Bennett is back after helping the team to its first national championship since 1980. He’s almost reflexively overlooked by fans and some media, while continuing to gain strong reviews from opposing coaches.

“Disrespected,” one SEC coach said of Bennett.

“Is he Bryce Young? No. But the dude is good enough with his feet, smart enough to extend plays,” an SEC defensive coordinator added. “He plays within himself.”

I feel like we’re just a skip away from everyone who’s underplayed Bennett’s abilities, despite his accomplishments, blaming it all on the Georgia fan base.

Well, he didn’t throw a vastly under thrown ball for a pick 6 to seal the loss in the National Title game, so that’s nice.

In the Georgia fan’s defense even Stet’s coaches underrated him. They had him third string at best. What were we supposed to think? We mostly all supported him even when some of us didn’t believe in him.
Stetson Bennett IV made a believer out of me in the playoffs. The final 8 minutes of the NC have me excited for the Dawgs and his future.

Damn right Ranger. What should I give more weight to when judging Stet? A bunch of guys pecking in their computers about what may happen or what I actually saw happen in the final 8 minutes of the NC game?

Ben Dukes compiled a video of SBIV’s long TD passes. Pretty damn convincing. Also, when he takes off Stet is damn quick. I hope he saves that for crucial moments. I remember in 2020 the Dawgs being up 14-zip on the Gators and Stetson getting a cheap shot. Things went to hell afterwards. He ain’t fragile but he is human.

        • He took that shot after throwing the ball, but yes, I want him to be judicious in running the ball.

We were up on Bama in the third quarter in 2020 before implosion. That was with a 3rd string Stet that had very little time with the 1s. Now that he/we are over the Bama hump, I expect less or none of those implosion from either side of the ball.

The starters parents interfered…if they leave him alone at WV, he’s got a chance to be a very good QB.

Well, he’s not wrong. I had several friends wwho wanted him pulled after the fumble.

Yeah, the fumble was cringe-worthy, but Stetson would tell you that himself. And we (including me) thought that when he became healthy JT should have played some more. I still think that just because you need insurance if something happens to Stetson. But I’m not a coach, and now the only people questioning Stetson seem to be the media who continually say 1) he’s good, but 2) he ain’t as good all these other guys. That’s not us, that’s you, Adam. Clean your own house up before telling us we need a maid.

You need better friends, and it wasn’t a fumble.

I’ll tell you this much, we’ll never win a National Championship with Stetson Bennett at quarterback and Kirby can’t coach worth a shit.

There is no denying he still has physical deficiencies such as size, weight, hand size that cannot change, that helps QBs to survive a full year of punishment and to grip/hold onto a football easier. The choice of either taking off running or standing in the pocket and getting crushed to deliver a throw is something our coaches know are huge risks with a small QB. As good as he is, there is not 1 QB that can avoid every hit. So, we gotta have Beck & Brock ready. Looking forward to seeing them get lots more mop up duty as early in the season as possible.

“Is he Bryce Young?” No, he’s tall enough to ride roller coasters.

If I am looking at it right, it appears Bennett is +10,000 to win the Heisman. I’m gonna be there opening weekend. Thinkin of putting 100 on it just in case he has a hell of a year. If he’s good, I could see the national media getting behind him. Thoughts?

I’ll give a student server $100 bill above and beyond the tip for good, friendly service. Why in the hell would I not make that bet?
Somebody hep me! The closest place to bet is Cherokee, right?
I’m serious. SBIV has the kind of story and smile that with a little promotion, excellent stats and 13-0 record he could win the Heisman. One thing that would make me happier than Stet and the Dawgs winning would be a million bucks in my pocket. Minus taxes of course.

Good. I loved talking shit for the mailman. I know I was mad after the SEC. But he’s my guy. I rooted all season. Let him be disrespected and shit on the orange teams.

I know that a lot of people here poopoo the NFL and that it’s just the preseason, but the rookie Dawgs have been some of the best players in the preseason. Love seeing all Georgia Bulldogs succeeding at the highest level in all professions. Maybe Stetson will continue to prove me and others wrong and make it in the NFL (to tie my comment to the topic at hand). Go Dawgs! Go Steelers!
