Fill up as we approach national signing day.
- “It is just the state of Georgia.”
- More hope for Auburn: “While college coaches have struggled transitioning to the N.F.L. — take note, Chip Kelly — N.F.L. defensive coordinators have largely experienced a smooth transition to the college game.”
- Awesome piece by Chris Brown on the long-term impact of the 2000 meeting between Northwestern and Michigan. It’s another illustration of why college ball is so much more fun to follow than the NFL.
- Speaking of which, Brophy’s righteous rant shouldn’t be missed.
- “Bleacher Report, the home of thousands of amateur sports bloggers, is getting more professional.” I’ll leave the punchline to you.
- Georgia is back on the Fulmer Cup leader board.
- Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t this kid about to run afoul of the Johnson Doctrine?
- The latest Harris Poll shows college football’s popularity remains constant, tied for second with professional baseball among Americans.
Ok, the law states that Brown needed to show “the verification of a student’s lawful presence in the United States”. Does Brown not have a SS number? A birth certificate? Or is this somehow not proof of his “lawful presence”?

I believe the article insinuates that had they known about this, it could have been resolved with more time. If that is true, and the coaches really want him, why not save a spot for him until it gets worked out?

The fact that his back up schools are Syracuse, Tulane and Middle Tennessee State might indicate the coaches do not want him as much as the article implies.

There’s definitely a disconnect between what UGA thinks (or thought) and what other schools think of his football skills. The offers just aren’t there from any significant D1 school. If that’s the case, our serious problem with evaluating offensive linemen continues.

The info I have seen is that Brown has the physical ability and potential, but needs polishing on his skills. He is listed as a “project” by some, so a redshirt is likely at UGA, but there is definitely potential for him to be a very good OL. I think he was 3 starts with Scout.

It seems like we could tell Brown that we would write an agreement and tell him that we would give him a scholarship next year after we find him a job this year and everything would work out just fine.

The kid got his commitment date tattooed on his arm. Really hope he ends up in Athens somehow.

I hate that UGA had to lose a recruit because of this but I’m glad this brings to light the absurd policy of our state. We force illegal aliens to attend school K-12 and then prevent them from going to college. With the purposeful killing of the DREAM Act, we can insure that no young illegals are motivated to go to college or join the military. Genius!

“We force illegal aliens to attend school”
Don’t you mean “we provide free education K-12 to illegal aliens but don’t allow them to attend state colleges or universities”.?
“no young illegals are motivated to go to college or join the military”
A non-citizen can join the military. A non citizen can attend private schools in Georgia and state schools in many other states.

Illegals should be motivated to become legal citizens and deported until they go through the legal immigration process. The article shows that Georgia state laws are working and more laws need to be corrected.

And most that do, particularly if they serve in combat, earn their citizenship (as they deserve to)
