About next season…

Blake Tibbs says Georgia has its own Honey Badger.

“We’ve got a lot of weapons,” redshirt freshman receiver Blake Tibbs said. “And Hutson, he don’t care who’s open. If they put a dog in a helmet and some equipment out there, if he was open, Hutson would throw it to him. That’s one thing about Hutson: He don’t care. If you’re open, he’s going to trust you to make the play and he’s going to keep throwing to you.”

Uga better keep his eyes open next season.

    Is this implying Murray doesn’t do the same? Unless the WRs are really inexperienced, it seems like he goes to whoever is open.

    Tibbs is gonna be a really good player for us, and Hutson is gonna be fine. Problem is…we can’t stop folks. Until we get a competent DC, we’re in trouble. I thought Grantham was the right hire, but it hasn’t worked out. We can’t languish in this mess or we’ll get behind the 8-ball real quick.

      Agreed. I think Mason and our offense will be very good. We just need a consistently decent defense. I’d love a great defense but that seems like too much to wish for.

      Losing 3 on O-line could hurt too, not that they’ve been lights out, but thats a lot of snaps we’ll me missing next year. I also worry that there haven’t been much rotation at ILB this year, it seems like Herrera and Wilson have played 95% of the snaps.

        We’ll miss Burnette a great deal. Gates, overall, has been more than we could have hoped for, being a late steal away from UK and a guard playing tackle. At ILB, I think Carter would have seen more action had he not gotten hurt.

        I think losing 3 on the Oline would hurt less if Friend were replaced.
        Sadly, far less likely to happen than Grantham going (“worst UGA D in decades” is not a “keep me employed” line to have) but we gotta hope for some good news, right?

    Ahh, sweet Next Year. To the most beautiful moment in life, better than a deed, better than a memory, the moment… of anticipation.

    Unless Mason can ensure we score 60 points a game, I somehow cannot get to excited about next year or any year on the horizon.

    If he lights up Clemson, then start talking about it. Otherwise, let’s keep it quiet, ok?

    Has Tibbs looked at part of the departing O line. It will take a pretty damn quick slant route if UGA was to make a catch. Hutson’s passing will depend on the line, and tackles are an issue. Puzzled why TG blocked or chip blocked to the strong or TE side and left the right tackle to fend of Ford on several plays.

    “Blake Tibbs says Georgia has its own Honey Badger.”

    Hudson, we have a problem if:

    a. he is going to intercept his own passes;
    b. he is going to be second to whoever he beats out in the Spring Game;
    c. he is going to be drug tested 24/7; and/or
    d. he is going to be “like, hmmm”*

    Don’t care if we have the top recruiting class of all time. Only way I’ll be optimistic about next year is if we have a new DC. A new ST and OL coach wouldn’t hurt either. Otherwise, I’ll expect the usual 2 to 4+ losses.

      We can only have new DC, OL, and ST coaches if those 3 positions are filled by 2 people.

      I think OL and maybe DB are the only places we really need to make changes and I’m iffy on DB. But I’m not typically quick to ask for someone’s job.

      Right now I have trouble figuring out who we would hire if we did let Grantham leave. Supposedly we struck out with Foster, Chavis, and Smart last time and Chavis and Smart are the only two guys I am sure would do a good job.

      • It was Foster who recommended Grantham. Chavis was a long reach. And Smart already at a better place. I worry about the “fire ’em” jack offs- (bite me Hijo) that populate a blog. They forget that when CVD retired and Mason left us at the alter that CJD road into town. Donnan did beat the OBC as an underdog and spark Georgia fans to a dismantling of the goal post after beating the Pumpkin King. Speaking of uT… what a circus and bamboo garden. Bet they wish they had Chavis back.
        just sayin’

          I think Foster would leave for $1 mil in a New York minute, and I’m certain he would do better. I also think Smart ‘might’ come with a big payday and head coach in waiting status. The guy at Michigan State would also be a good hire. There comes a point when you have to realize that you’ve GOT to try something else. Grantham improved our recruiting, but with top shelf talent last year proved he couldn’t field a competent defense. This year was the back-breaker.

          I’m hoping Richt learned his lesson. Keeping this D staff around one more season will be a dumpster fire, I’m afraid. The man knows defense. It’s clear it’s not getting through.

            I pride myself on being pretty unrealistic too but it’s good to know that the opportunity is nowhere to be leader of the pack

    Well, we’re the only team to already have a starter suspended for its 2014 opener.

    So we have that going for us.
