“I have no regrets.”

I wonder how long it’s going to take for Aaron Murray’s biggest detractors in the fan base to appreciate how great this kid’s been.

We ought to put up a statue for the guy or something. Just incredible. I don’t think we know how good he has really been. DGD

Now if Hutson Mason pulls a Tee Martin next season……… (I kid, I kid)

It will be at least 1 year…we got the best backup ever coming up next year.

Part of me kind of wants Mason to suck, just so all of the people who begged for him can eat crow, as he will have pretty much the exact same O that Murray has next year.

    • I don’t want Mason to to fail because he has been nothing but classy through this whole process especially the willingness to redshirt last year knowing that he had to prepare as if he were the 2nd string QB.

CMR should have redshirted Mason as a freshman. He would have gotten many more reps last year as the 2nd team QB.

This. I hope Mason wins it all. I have nothing but good wishes for his success, like all the UGA QB’s

+1 and I think Hutson will do very well. But he’s got some mighty big shoes to fill.

I don’t think Mason’s success or failure is any sort of reflection on Murray’s success or perceived lack thereof. No rational person says that Tee Martin should have been starting over Peyton Manning…

The black jerseys should be brought out only for big home games. 2-8 Kentucky and 6-4 Georgia doesn’t exactly say “big game”. The staff acts like they are scared to bring them back out just because we lost to Alabama a few years ago.

I am not talking about the team. ME. You do what you want, if you even go to the games. If AM and the seniors want to wear black, ok with me. But my post was directed to fans.

I think bringing them out for a random game helps take the stigma off. If they only bring them out for big games, they’re going to take the blame, even when it has nothing to do with it. I like the idea of making it an incentive. You beat Florida, you can wear it. You get to a certain record by the Auburn game, and you can wear it for the final home game of the season.

Side note – I think it’s pretty dumb how teams are taking on uniform colors that aren’t part of their scheme… but I suppose it’s ok to bring a non-native color out for a game. But seeing UNC having black as a standard color just boggles me.

BUT.. the only exception I think is cool – honoring military by wearing miltary camo variations. I think that’s a cool tribute, whether it looks good or not. That’s bigger than just the team, in that instance.

I agree strongly with your post, the opening sentence being the key. Black is one of our primary colors and while I don’t want to see us in black helmets or pants, the black jerseys look outstanding, and they mean something to the young players. I feel they should be kept for limited, special use once every year or two. The “special” part of this game is it becomes a low-risk bridge to get folks past 2008 Bama, and it honors a player who deserves far more accolades than he has gotten, and who is my favorite all-time UGA quarterback. I don’t ever want it called a blackout again, just let the team come out in black as needed in the future.

What do you get when you are talented and work hard? Aaron Murray.

Most people recognize Aaron’s been great.

Many recognize Aaron, his backs, and receivers have had top notch coaching while he was here.

Not enough people realize how much the rest of the Athletic department has let him down.

    Damn shame.

You’re one of the best QB’s to wear the Red and Black, Aaaron Murray.. as much for being a class act, as your play on the field. Thanks and I wouldn’t change a thing other than to give you a defense that could’ve bailed you out this year.

I can’t decide if David Greene or Aaron is the greatest QB of the Richt area.. but putting them in the same discussion, thinking one may be better than the other.. I just can’t argue with either option.

    To simplify both points…

    1. If Murray had Greene’s defense, there would be no debate about Murray’s legacy. The guy won games and kept us in games when almost any other QB would have fallen apart. He took some ridiculous shots both on and off the field and kept getting back up. No doubt, he is one of the greatest to those who watch enough football.

    2. The black jerseys should be a reward to the team to wear the game following clinching the SEC East. Be it App St/Kentucky or the like or be it a big game like AU/GT or even SECCG if possible. This would cut through the stigma and fake juice nonsense and might provide the players a little extra incentive. Thoughts?

That is a good idea with the black jerseys. An extra little reward for success, and it would take the aforementioned stigma off the jerseys. They’re part of our color scheme for crying out loud, and they look cool. We’ve got to bring them back out sometime.

I can’t believe Murray’s career is coming to a close. What an incredible competitor, and, more importantly, ambassador for our proud university. It’s been one hell of a ride with him at the reins. I’m guessing it’s the first chapter in his life that hasn’t resulted in a championship, but he’s an unquestioned winner in my book. I can’t be at the game, but I hope the Sanford faithful send him off as he so rightly deserves. Not sure if there is a precedent for this type of thing (at least at the collegiate level), but I’d support and help fund a full-page ad in either the ABH or AJC (or both) to thank Murray for his 5 years of on- and off-field leadership and success. Highest caliber of Damn Good Dawg.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I was this sad to see a senior go. He’ll probably go down as my all-time favorite dawg when it’s all said and done.

I think he may be the greatest player not named Herschel to wear the red and black.

    • I’m not sure I can go there. Sinkwich and Trippi probably would have something to say about that. If Theron Sapp had his number retired for 1 play to break The Drought, Murray should have his number retired for breaking the Gator hex and his career achievements.

When I think of Murray, it will be of his performance in this year’s LSU game. Kind of like I always think of ’02 AU when I think of Greene. Gives me goosebumps thinking of those games right now.

Do you remember Murray’s first game between the hedges? Something like 56-7 against one of the directional Louisiana schools. It was also Grantham’s first game I think. Remember Rambo getting beat for a td on a trick play bomb? Do you remember Grantham screaming at Rambo for about 10 minutes? Has the defense gotten any better as Murray has progressed?

One need only look back to the post-Clemson responses to see who the Murray bashers are. Conspicuously absent here today.

T.Kyle suggested a new less than politically correct title for Aaron…GDGD.

No regrets and for good reason: he balled out the whole time he was here. Whether he makes an NFL roster or winds up coaching somewhere, I wish him the best.
