Will Muschamp’s got the license plate number of the semi that hit his defense Saturday.
“That’s what the option does — it takes talent out of the game. You don’t have to block Dante Fowler now. You option off Dante Fowler. You don’t have to account for him anymore in the blocking,” Muschamp said.
“That’s why the service academies run it, that’s why they run it, that’s why a lot of these schools run it, because it takes talent out of the equation. A lot of talented guys don’t like having somebody at their knees every snap, either. That’s part of why they run it. Talent’s negated in that situation. It doesn’t really matter because you don’t have to block a lot of the guys.”
Somewhere in Atlanta, Paul Johnson is taking time out from his preparation for the Georgia game to call his AD about scheduling a game with Florida.
I’m confused. Is BOOM! planning on switching to the triple option next year because it helps with their lack of talent on offense or is he blaming the loss on the coaching staff failing to coach up the talent?

Yeah, I was wondering myself how “talent” affected his offense.

Florida experienced the perfect storm. You need a strong offense to hold on to the ball and keep the option team off of the field. And you need a strong offense to score points so that the option team is the one playing catch-up. You need a good run defense…and very importantly you need players who are pumped up enough to put up with the knee rolling blocks…players who are motivated and have not quit…because they are going to have a week of learning to hold and play very disciplined position defense…If you’re players are disintrested the week before a game like this, you will probably lose..This year’s .Florida is last year’s Auburn.

Familiarity breeds success with the TO, IMHO.
Which is why we lost in 2008 but have played better since.
Speaking of Tech, familiarity also breeds contempt. The white hot burning hatred of a thousand suns kind of contempt.

I hate playing Tech at this point. We should stop scheduling them until they stop playing that stupid offense. I hate that in the last game of the year we have to watch those idiots throw themselves into our defensive linemen’s knees and chopping the OLBs.

Maybe they are all a lot better than Florida.

Paul Johnson can’t schedule a game with Florida. He just can’t. You put Georgia Tech and Florida on the field, then that much evil will cause the universe to implode and end. No. No to Jackets vs Gators.

It would be a lost cause for tech. When the nerds tell the jean short people they might work for them someday, they’ll just get a face full of cigarette smoke.

Yeah, unless Tech starts up a new trade school program for prison wardens, Florida fans will never end up working for them.

He does have a point in a way, and that is why we should never schedule Ga Southern again. Everything to lose, including our player’s knees and nothing to gain. I was in that area recently and their fans were telling me how they ran all over us even though they lost 42-14 last year. Now they really will be insufferable.

Southern fans are cute. They think that they were about to beat us before “the refs hosed them” in that 2004 game.

It worked out great for us last year. Perfect warmup game for Tech.

Given the respective margins of victory, I think Tech would have made a perfect warmup game for Southern.

So unfair, you know, that Ga Southern is allowed to be creative in order to combat the massive, massive inherent disadvantages that college football has institutionalized so teams like Florida can show up for games against them, not try, and almost always win anyway.

The triple option does not negate defensive talent. It simply exposes a lack of coaching talent.

That is what I was thinking. If Muschamp believes the TO levels the playing field as far as talent goes, that only leaves one other reason for losing…not a great argument for a coach to make!

there’s an old saying that might apply here: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
I think Ga Southern may have outworked their disinterested opponents last week. Florida brings their A game, they win. Florida brings their C- game, bad things ahppen if your’re a Gator.

For all of those who want Muschamp as DC, I hope this dissuades you. Yesterday he threw Pease under the bus about the offense and now he makes excuses about getting beat by a team with lesser talent. We don’t need that kind of crap around UGA. Besides he and his boorish behavior would never last with Richt.

I admit that at one time I advocated hiring Boom as DC after he gets fired by FU. I now have been persuaded against it by the logic of my brother posters.

After making his excuses, BOOM! actually tells us how to defend the TO. And, my anxiety was just relieved a tiny bit. (That said, I’ll be channeling Munson again in 10, 9, 8 …)
Here’s BOOM!’s analysis:
“I felt decently comfortable,” he said. “You don’t ever know if you’ve never faced it. Our kids have never faced it. I’ve seen these offenses before, coaching at other places. You don’t ever know how your kids are going to respond and how they’re going to play it. When you beat it off a team like this, it’s a team-effort deal.
“The way you defend these teams is you change the scoreboard on the other side and you get them out of their rhythm and you create negative plays and you get them behind in down and distance. We were never able to do that.”

Jeremy’s spoken with the receptionists of the AD’s from the Merchant Marine Academy, the Coast Guard Academy and the keeper of the flags for intramural football at the North Miami campus of Johnson and Wales. Each school is ready, willing and able to play Florida for less than $550,000.00.
In other coup related news, reports are filtering in that at least one fan in the European Theatre has been pretty NSFW far from okay since the great Homecoming defeat

As I recall I don’t remember us exactly beating the hell out of UF even though we won. Muschamp is a former Dawg, so I am not willing to beat the hell out of him. So far he has been good for CMR’s record against UF. Somewhat agree with what he says. We might find out Saturday with this young defense.

It’s all going according to plan. But sometimes the plan goes a little too well, such as Georgia Southern. The last thing we need is a premature termination.
The plan calls for Boom to stay embedded for at least two more years so he can finish his First Five Year Plan. To do that he needs to stop losing to Division II teams.
This has caused the Illuminati to ramp up work on the next level of disinformation to be disseminated earlier than expected to Jeremy. That pamphlet will be entitled “Coaching with Dynamite”. It will be loosely based on the seminal 1910 Dupont pamphlet on how to blow up dirt and grow stuff
http://io9.com/5915253/this-1910-brochure-explained-how-to-farm-with-dynamite
Luckily for us, Jimbo (who reportedly is or used to be a co-owner of beach house with Boom) will probably not hang 80 on him. However, many experts forecast that Jameis’ DNA will be all over The Swamp in levels ranging somewhere between traces and a good old-fashioned thunderstorm drenching.

We MUST do what we can to save Agent Muschamp’s job!! His mission is not yet complete. 2 more seasons like this one and the Gators will be back to the way they were pre-Spurrier! No top player from the state of Florida will then want to go there–they’ll all sign with FSU or Miami. Quick, get some propaganda out there rationalizing this lost season because of injuries and claim rebuilding as an excuse!!

Football program at UF is caught between the beaches and the swamp. It is ugly in Gainesville. Saw it just down the road in Tallahassee a few seasons ago. Programs turn. Question is their offense. UF can not get a QB in fold lately. Plus other Florida schools are beating them in recruiting right now. But FSU righted their ship.

The ” Hitler Says Muschamp Must Go” was some funny S–T, also agree with Will Trane on Saturday our young defense Best keep there Eyes open, and not get snookered, Muschamp should never be allowed to be any part of Georgia Football, accept to be the loosing coach of our opponents. I can see (on tv) some of the language uses when a player messes up, thats not a Coach, thats a Tyrant, youn don’t see CMR or Charlie Strong dressing down an athlete like that, No Sir. I’m just sayin’ “GO DAWGS” GATA

I don’t have a problem with what Mustychamp said. He’s right. Which is why I’m worried about the game Saturday, afraid we might lose.
The spread triple-option that Georgia Southern and Tech run requires defenses to be disciplined. And we haven’t been close to that all year, even though we’ve been running the same defense every week.
Now we have to stop something new, and one missed assignment or hesitation can cost you six points. I don’t know how this challenge could inspire a lot of confidence in anybody.
