So there’s a tiny shred of sanity remaining in the bowl system. Interesting matchups may not be high on the list of selection criteria but maybe it’s still on the list.

The real problem is those teams that qualified for a bowl but weren’t picked don’t get the extra practice, so that potentially can affect next season for them.

And Georgia Southern and App State joined the Sun Belt so they could get bigger guarantees from the big boys AND so they could go to a bowl instead of the more costly FCS playoffs. Bowls would rather take a 6-6 team with a brand name than an 8-4 former 1AA school.
