Dennis Dodd is canonizing Dan Mullen after the LSU game.
Jeffrey Simmons has been named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week two weeks in a row.
And the media is starting to measure the height of Mississippi State’s ceiling.
If Georgia wins Saturday night, how much air do you think is let out of the maroon balloon afterwards? I mean, after all, it’s Georgia. The media would probably make more of the Dawgs’ quality from a loss.
UGA win = Ho hum…they beat a previously unranked team coming off a 6-7 season. And besides, LSU is a disaster, in which coach O might not even get a second year.
MSU win = Lookout Bama, there is a new sheriff in town. Fitz is a legit Heisman candidate, and the Bama-MSU game later in the year might be the game of the century part II.

A little off topic, but if you follow the linked article on Mullen the next one is a Butch Jones hot seat piece. Will UT really owe Boosh 12 million if they cut him loose?

I hope so!

I can imagine Tennessee replacing Butch with an interim before Halloween gets here.
Guess who, Charley Brown.

I like the comparison with Snyder. Both coaches seem to do the absolute most with what they have. What was that quote about Bear Bryant? “He can take his and beat yours, or he can take yours and beat his.” I kind of think Mullen is like that, and I would like to see what he could do at an A&M, for example, with talent all over the field.

We seen the dawgrading after the ND game. Before the game it was all about ND’s huge o-line and how our o-line would get handled by their D. After we won the game, you started hearing a lot of, “well, we really don’t know how good ND really is.” I assume the same thing will happen with MSU if we win.

MSU much better team than ND. Dawgs had no respect for ND QB at all, whereas MSU has a cat that has grown into a real threat in several ways. Believe they are by far the best team on schedule and a win assures a meeting with Bama later on.

I’m not assuming a win anyway, but for the purposes of this subject, I can’t decide if it would be better to blow them out or to have a hard-fought game where both teams look good, and we outlast them.
Would a blowout win de-legitimize them as a sound football team, or would it make us look that much more impressive?

I don’t think you need to worry about a blowout.

This is one of those games where, including as recently as Ole Miss last year, we’d come out unprepared and get embarrassed. A win in this one would convince me we’ve started to turn the corner towards what we could, and probably should, be as a program.

the difference between this year and last year vs Ole Miss is the game’s in Athens and not Oxford. we also started a freshman QB on the road. MSU beat LSU at home. they’re playing on the road in a hostile environment that should favor UGA.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I’m talkin’ to whoever’s listenin’ out there…All I know is that I am so damn happy this is a 7pm kickoff. Cannot wait to watch our D at night again. Thompson, Zo, Roquan, JR Reed…AH YEAH
