Today, in just sayin’?

It never really dawned on me how close the stats on these two are.

Compared to Tua, Fields has the misfortune of a quarterback ahead of him who’s more in sync with the offense, but who knows what happens when that gap closes?

I’m missing something. We have a sophomore QB who has lead us to 2 SECCG, one title, one Rose Bowl win, one play from the NC and a 24 – 2 record yet some believe/want/speculate that he could/should be replaced next year as a Junior? I don’t know what Fields can do to replace that. I see his incredible potential, and he’s already a starter for at least 120 other FBS teams, but I just don’t believe there is any reasonable chance he replaces Fromm, who may even stick around for his senior year depending on his NFL prospects. This is a great problem to have, and there is certainly a role for Fields, but not as a starter and we may need to be better prepared to lose him vs. disrupting a QB who may end up being one of the best ever at UGA. Again, what am I missing? This is not like Bama as Hurts clearly is not as good as Tua, Fromm and probably Fields too, so that switch seems far less dramatic.

What can Fields do to replace Fromm? Same thing any back up at any other position does. Practice and play better than the starter.

Certainly Fromm is setting a REALLY high bar for Fields, though.

Exactly. Fromm can lose the job. But I hope he doesn’t make it easy. He hasn’t yet.

Fromm has been playing at a tremendously high level since BR.

      Of course you don’t.

If Fields doesn’t buy the bullshit that he is somehow being mistreated by not starting (a charge from ignoramuses that can’t think rationally or else just have a hard-on for UGA) over the high-flying,upper classman Fromm.. and foolishly bolt to some lesser program, he will have a sky- high-performing championship caliber UGA offense to oversee for at least one year, and possibly two…in addition to increased playing time next year.
I think Fields hangs in there, contributes in a big way this Saturday (Chaney haz sharp crayon) and hugely next year. In 20, the team may very well be his..if so, in 21, he’s in the NFL unless he stays for the fun in 22.
(BTW..UGA got a commitment from a high profile qb out of south Fl. last week. Still piling up the talent!)

So I guess Fields should just “stay in his place” and wait quietly for 3 years until he gets his shot for 1 whole season right? This is the problem I have with this qb situation. It seems that some fans don’t want a competition, they want a succession plan in which I feel like Fields will end up on the short end of the stick. I’m not one who says that Fields should start over Fromm today, but once he learns the offense, I think he should get a shot at winning the job. Now if Kirby told him about some kind of succession plan and he’s ok with it, then God bless him, but if not, I would tell Fields to strongly consider transferring to Miami since he wants to run a pro offense. I’m sure he’ll be appreciated by ALL of the hurricane fan base.

Kirby will be promoted to Chief Wizard if he can keep Fields from transferring at the end of the season. Imaging what he could do at Auburn, now I am paranoid.

He wants to learn how to run a pro style offense ,so unless AU cans Gus and hires Kiffin, then you have nothing to worry about.
