Random game day thoughts

Leaving for Athens in a few, and I’m in a bullet point mood, y’all.

  • On the home front, it’s a name your score day.  If Bennett isn’t playing in the third quarter, we’ll know something’s gone horribly, horribly wrong.  Lots of fresh faces and hopefully no serious injuries.
  • Will Tennessee bounce back against BYU?  Probably, but I’m saying there’s a chance…
  • Georgia Tech is playing a rematch in the friendly confines of BDS against a terrible USF team.  Can Geoff do what the genius couldn’t?
  • I hope Vandy shows us something against Purdue.  Either way, it’ll be something to gauge the opening week win against.
  • I think Dabo and his staff know exactly how much hay they need to make against TAMU today.
  • Here’s hoping LSU lays into Texas tonight, if only to shut down the “Texas is back” talk that’s Georgia’s fault.
  • My candidate for ugly game of the day is Arkansas-Ole Miss.
  • It’ll be interesting to see how Eason and Fields do against better defenses today.

Feel free to add your own thoughts and observations in the comments section.  See you on the other side after the first game played on Dooley Field wraps up.

“Will Tennessee bounce back against BYU?”

You can’t do horns down but you can shoot a cannon through an LSU jersey. Makes sense. Should be a good game but I think LSU will take it.

I’m enjoying Army tormenting Michigan in the Big House. Hope they can pull it off.

I hope USF changes the culture (or lack thereof) at Mark Richt field.
I hope the hillbillies loose. I don’t KNOW who I want to loose the worse when they play; the hillbillies or the swamp lizards.
I do hope Hell SU beats the steers, and TAM whupps clemmons.
    And….
I do want to see Stetson have meaningful snaps.
    GO DAWGS!!

I believe that Pruitt is dangerously close to losing the team. Another loss today might seal his fate. Can anyone say orange pumpkin?

That is the plan—right? For Pruitt to fail and Phat Phil to fire Pruitt and become interim HC mid season then hire himself as permanent HC after the season. Right? The master plan all along.

While lulu and junior waddle down memory lane on a couple dozen krispy kremes prior to kickoff, they ponder the thought of fulmer as hc and free doughnut holes before every home game…

I don’t get into conference pride at all , but I’m also hoping LSU embarrasses Texas. Tom Herman is a threat , and , it’s Texas for crying out loud

I’m thinking if BYU can get up a couple of scores early, the Pruitt era is over

I think TN gets a win they desperately need, I agree that he is very close to losing the team and another loss may cause a sprint to the locker room for Foolmer to get the sweats back on.

Believe LSU might rock Texas, and they deserve it, and all of Murica needs some relief from them. Kirby needs to give SB the entire 2nd half to run the offense and get some reps. We blew an opportunity last week to do this, and need these next two games to get him comfortable. Could be dead wrong, but I think this is a 4 quarter in Death Valley. A&M capable of the upset, think they at least cover.

One of two things happens with Fields and Eason today:

    1) They struggle and prove that they aren’t any good

    Or

    2) They play well and it is declared that both the teams they played aren’t any good and that both still aren’t any good

Hope UT crashes and burns—possible too as BYU has a decent team. I remember USF had a pretty good team just a couple of years ago—how’d they fall so far so fast? Eason and Fields are both quality QBs on teams surrounded by top notch players. They both will do well. In fact I fully expect to have to face one of them in a playoff game before they graduate.

It’s been way too long. I remember seeing James Brown perform it live in Sanford stadium. Happy for Vince. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only old guy who came to see Vince and Herschel then left after the first touchdown. Too hot to fish.

Premature knee jerk reaction warning… Quick score and then blah. Fromm can’t take a game on his shoulders. The OL can’t pass block. Now the D gives up a big play. Early hiccups or sign of the times? Stay tuned!

Could Beth Mowins be any worse on play-by-play?

Yes. She could be joined by Jessie Palmer. Or Tim Brando.

Yeah. God forbid we be frustrated when we have a glorified FCS team hanging around as we watch our future opponents systematically dismantle their teams gun to gun. What a bunch of assholes!!

I’m perfectly happy grandpa but it is a little frustrating watching Fromm get sacked, giving up a 60 yard TD, then fumbling it away to basically a high school team but I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

Once again, the “early birds” choke on the worms of their waayyyy too early observations. Not as voluminous as the groups that inhabit every CFB message board, but just as short-sided. Rarely do the proverbial blind squirrels find those acorns, despite how strongly Dancing Danny thinks they do.

I’m happier than a pig in slop Mac. I know that we’re freaky good. I’d just like to see some of those loose ends tied up. They’re brain farts more than anything and I know when it gets to be nut cutting time they’ll bring their A game for 60 minutes.

I wasn’t too happy with a 7-7 tie, but I was quite happy with a 35-0 second quarter. Pickens looks terrific and it was great to see Zeus get into the end zone. Also cool to see Stetson in the game.

Shit’s gotten beyond real in Knoxville. Pruitt had better wear kevlar sweats when he’s around Phat Phil. The dagger in the back has got to be coming soon.

As dumb as Fulmer is, he’s smart enough to know that his day is done. After he kicks Pruitt to the curb, expect Tee Martin to be named interim head coach. Remember that Martin said that he wouldn’t come back unless they made him OC. Then he shows up. Fulmer wanted him in place if Pruitt crashed and burned, which apparently is happening.
