When in doubt, blame a ref.

Dan Mullen’s not sayin’, y’all.  He’s just sayin’.

Dan Mullen, who is catching heat from the Florida fans and media over the UGA loss, turned his attention to the SEC about officiating on Monday.

Mullen wants to know what the SEC’s “motive is” for allowing Lawrence Cager’s catch in the second quarter to stand in UGA’s 24-17 win over the Gators (see below for the video). The catch was reviewed on replay, and confirmed as a reception.

The Florida coach was asked if he’s heard from the SEC office about the call.

“I’ve not gotten any word, we’ve asked,” Mullen said on Monday during his weekly press conference.

“You’d have to ask them that, that decision was made in Birmingham on that play. I’ve asked, I haven’t heard anything from them. I guess you’d have to ask what their motive is for making the decision the way they did in Birmingham. That had nothing to do with on-the-field officials.”

Cool beans, buddy.  While you’re at it, maybe you could check on the motivation behind this no-call:

What are the odds Mullen spends the offseason telling Gator booster groups that the refs stole the Cocktail Party from Florida?  Hey, it’s gotta work better than the truth.

  1. There is a reason he is universally disliked in coaching circles.

Tell him to ask about all the holding no-calls too. I usually don’t focus on our O-line, were we holding as much as UF’s linemen were?

My favorite was when one of our guys fought through the hold and still got a huge sack on Trask anyway. Can’t remember who that was though.

Keep up the bitching, Sideshow. In fact, amp it up. Give Kirby more reasons to make sure the cocktail party earns poorly for the Gators every year. #FTMFs

Jordan Davis practically carried a Florida guy on his back most of the way to the quarterback.

I think Kirby hates the Gators as much as Spurrier hated UGA. At least, I hope he does.

Isn’t it cool? Kirby’s gonna Kirby, but he hates florida and tennessee more than I do.
        NTM he’s got Notre Dame’s number…..

Wasn’t Kirby on the UGA team in 1995 when Spurrier called a reverse/ flea flicker/pass inside of 2 minutes to score more than 50 because “Nobody had ever scored more than 50 on them in their place”? I really do hope one day, while Kirby is still at UGA, that we return that favor and Kirby mentions that Spurrier and that play in his post game interview. This game is personal for Kirby Smart. And I love that

We all know that Cager’s catch was at best iffy. What boggled my mind was that the call actually went in our favor. After all the times we’ve been hosed on calls I was more than OK to accept that gift.

(Birmingham officials): “Hey, Dan! You can’t spend your whole life complaining about your mistakes! You f’d up! You trusted us!” 😂

      Otter:
Flounder, you can’t spend your whole life worrying about your mistakes! You f***ed up. You trusted us! Hey, make the best of it! Maybe we can help.

      Flounder:
[crying] That’s easy for you to say! What am I going to tell Fred?!

      Otter:
I’ll tell you what. I’ll swear you were doing a great job taking care of his car, but, you parked it out back last night and this morning, it was gone. D-Day takes care of the wreck. We report it to the police. Your brother’s insurance company buys him a new car.

      Flounder:
      Will that work?

      Otter:
Hey, it’s gotta work better than the truth.

      Bluto:
My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

      Bluto gives Flounder a six-pack.

      Otter:
You better listen to him, Flounder. He’s in pre-med.

      Otter and Bluto shake hands.

      D-Day:
There you go now, just leave everything to me.

D-Day fires up his blow-torch and laughs.

So what I'm going to have to conclude from this is that Mullen is Fllounder. Mullet /Flounder what's the difference.

That UF-USCjr. game is one of the worst officiated games I ever saw, and all the calls went Dan’s way.

I hope dumbass Dan convinces himself that the refs cost Florida the game. Then he can can continue to prepare for next year in the same manner.
Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome isn’t the definition of insanity. It’s the hallmark of an obstinate, stupid shithead.
Here’s to hoping some of the boys around these parts have figured that out.

I kinda think Cager’s catch was righteous. Yes ball touched ground but at that point he had control, albeit unconventional looking control. I think the terminology is: ‘he didn’t need help from the ground.’ Then as he rolled over he bobbled it above body but regained control.
    YMMV

I thought Cager’s catch should have been overturned. I can only assume that Birmingham didn’t see “incontrovertible proof.” Merely the preponderance of evidence.

      Oh, and FTMF.

The good news for Mullen is that he’s got 366 days (thanks to leap year) to work on a new Side Show before the next beating

Only an AH like Mullet would use the word “motivation” in his response. I actually think he should be fined for its implication, some have been fined for much less. The good thing is by hiding behind a lame excuse he won’t work on the multitude of things the gaytors were whipped solidly in on Saturday (to include coaching, planning, and playing within the rules). Getting to be suspicious there might be more going on about how Kirby continues to find those acorns.)

The false start on that play was clear…but what about the hold by the WR that continued for most of the length of the play. He had the defender’s jersey…the BACK of the jersey….for quite a while. No call

I’m quite sure that the allowing UGA to go 12/18 on 3rd down had NOTHING to do with FU losing. Maybe he should question 3rd and Grantham on his motivation for letting the Dawgs embarrass him AGAIN. #FTMF

I’d rather have Mullen think the refs cost him the game than have him to think he needs to work hard to recruit better players so his team can catch up to Georgia.

Cager juked the DBU and made the effort, that’s good enough to get the call. But someone please remind Dan he had open reign to recruit Cager, but he picked Brenton Cox!! Not to mention he burned 2 timeouts in the 1st Quarter, burned 7 minutes to get the late TD late, whilst carrying only 3 Total Points through 3 quarters. Now go focus on recruiting Dan instead of dispelling accountability, and bitching about the many other things you cannot control.
