A true master of clickbait at work

I tell you, it’s not easy to write a piece entitled “How Dan Mullen is closing the recruiting gap between Florida, Georgia” that includes the following comparison:

Florida recruiting ranking in SEC

2022: No. 7*
2021: No. 5
2020: No. 6
2019: No. 5
2018: No. 4

Georgia recruiting ranking in SEC

2022: No. 2*
2021: No. 3
2020: No. 1
2019: No. 2
2018: No. 1

*Note: In progress

Well done, Brandon Marcello.  No doubt there’s more where that came from.

  2. This article was written by a WH press secretary. Brandon Cox is a flip from georgia superstar? The gators “Drilled” the Bulldogs?

and this…”but Mullen is still overachieving:” at what exactly? His best year was beating the Dawgs and losing 3 games in a row to end the season? He’s and over achiever because his dumbass needed Franks to get hurt to realize Trask was better?

This should be titled Daily Gator loves a reach around.

  3. How about this (source: 24/7)

    2018 – Georgia 1, Florida 14
    2019 – Georgia 2, Florida 9
    2020 – Georgia 1, Florida 9
    2021 – Georgia 4, Florida 13
    2022 (to date) – Georgia 3, Florida 24

    I think that’s called a gap that isn’t closing.

I said this on another thread and it’s soooo true: These asshole writers have to write something so they write something to get clicks even if they have to make it up.

  6. I say let em write fluff pieces like this if it keeps ol’ Portal Master around longer. The slow drip of hope prolongs the decision to cut bait and look for something better, i.e. Georgia in the 90’s

The Gators 24/7 beat writers misunderstood “puff, puff, pass” to be “puff, puff, post.”

It always bugged me to see articles like this about Georgia back in the darker days of the rivalry. It usually threw the message boards into chaos. Good for them.

This guy has been beating this theme for a few years now. I’m sure he’s just trying to will it into becoming true.

If I was an 18 year old kid having just talked to Kirby and then Mullen I’m thinking to myself that I’m going to play for the man that cares and is serious instead of a fucking space cadet.

Whatever. They beat us last year and gave Bama all they could handle. I’ll cool my heels a bit until we’re back on top of something other than opinions about our talent level. If anything, it’s pretty damning we’re recruiting at this level, were up 14-0 and still lost badly.

Post Dooley and pre Kirby, we occasionally beat the turds in Jax but that did not signal a major shift in our fortunes against them. Same for the turds last year. Yep, they beat us. Occasionally that will happen just like the old blind squirrel getting his nut, but there is no shift in where this series is headed. As many others have pointed out, they are now us in the 90’s and early 2000’s

This blows my mind every time. Since when is falling behind more slowly closing the gap?

Last few years rankings aside, they whipped us last year. So is it coaching?
