I was prepared to trash his take on the Georgia quarterbacking situation, but, you know what? This isn’t half bad:
On the ESPN College Football Podcast, Herbstreit said Daniels has a high football IQ, according to offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
“He’ll make a throw, whether it’s a touchdown or an incompletion or an interception, kind of the same guy, right?” Herbstreit told Matt Barrie, via On3. “Monken told me this year his pre-snap ability to look into the eyes of a difference, he said, is elite. … He’s still trying to master the system and where to go with the ball, if they move pre-snap to post.
As for Bennett, Herbstreit believes he brings a different skillset.
“He has a chip on his shoulder,” Herbstreit said. “Everyone’s told him he sucks. Everyone’s told him, ‘Look at you. What? You’re not the quarterback at Georgia.’ He takes all that personally. I think he’s doing a better job of protecting the ball. … He does just enough wiggle and just enough ‘screw you’ kind of approach that the combination of those two things provides the intangibles that you need, that fit with everything else Georgia has going for them.”
To me, SBIV is Greg Talley. JTD is Zeier.

That is unfair…to Greg.
JT3 is probably a better comparison. But for a lot of things falling in place neither are playing a lot of big time college football.
Greg won a National High School Championship.
Greg was also the state’s offensive player of the year and starting qb in the Florida-Georgia High School Football All-Star Game.
Finally, Greg Talley was the starting qb in a win over Alabama.

JT is more talented, a better option when healthy.
SBIV is the kind of scrappy underdog that inspires me to root harder for him.

I think the pre-snap point is astute. I have no evidence for this, but sometimes I get sense Stet knows where he wants to throw ball pre-snap. But JT has better feel for what will actually be open.

It’s all a bullshit smokescreen. He knows Bennett can’t beat his beloved Suckeyes in a playoff game, so he’s blowing all the smoke he can for the guy.

The only way that argument makes sense is if Heirbstreit truly believes Monken and Smart will take GameDay personality’s advice about who to start. Monken and Smart are justifiably too arrogant to think they need his advice.

The comparisons make for excellent pundit conversation and across the blogosphere but my reality is that until the moment JT starts a game or plays more than a series, he is too injured to play. He may be too injured the entire season for the above threshold. Does that mean he won’t come in to provide a spark if necessary against tougher competition, no. He will be the reliever/or setup man/ or closer to come off the bench and help us win a game we need.

So THATS why Kirby is bringing the Braves in… strategy conference!

Last year was a mess for a variety of reasons. In 2019, despite winning, it was obvious Fromm had limitations imposed by Coley’s offense that would not give us the kind of fighting chance we needed against that LSU offense.
I’ve seen nothing this year to suggest Kirby and Foley aren’t making the best decisions with a very good offense with an insane number of injured starters to give us more than that fighting chance (thanks defense!). Enjoy this.

I read the comments… well, let me correct myself – I read A comment, and then skimmed the 14-pagers below it, and I gotta say – I’m so glad I come to GTP for 95% of my Dawgs content. There’s generally just a better class of dawgfan here.
That being said… did I miss all the articles this week on the “Who’s gonna start” question – or is Mizzou so bad that even the sports media realizes that question is DOA today?
Let’s Frikkin GO to 9-0. Go Dawgs!
