Top-5 offenses in College Football (EPA per play)
1. Ohio State
2. Oklahoma
3. Alabama
4. Georgia

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
If no injury bug, we could’ve been looking at a #1 offense and defense this year. Astounding.

Yeah, I was thinking about that this morning when I checked out YPP rankings.

The best stat I saw from this weekend is how Tennessee came in with the 16th-ranked offense and left with the 26th-ranked offense.
THAT is “The Georgia Effect.”
So when assholes like Danny Kanell keep pointing to the offensive rankings of the teams we played to say “Georgia ain’t played nobody!” it’s a fraudulent stat. All those teams would have offensive rankings about 10 spots higher in had they not played Georgia.

The mental gymnastics he was going through this morning to try and discredit the DAWGS (every win) was astounding. As usual, Dusty called him on his BS and had him stammering even more trying to justify his “take”. The dude has a serious hatred of the SEC and UGA in particular.

It was terrible this morning. When he gets called out on it all if a sudden he says “We are up against a break”. At least Dusty calls him out.

I can’t listen to him anymore. As much as I love the Dawgs being a constant topic, DK is a really hard listen.

Whistling in the dark. Stetson ain’t leading us to a NT. You cant rely on him to be consistent or make throws when the game is on the line. We’re going to waste a generational defense on QB that’s going to be opening a State Farm insurance Agency in Statesboro sometime in 2023. We’re only going to get one shot at this and as the injuries on defense mount, the pressure on our QB is going to get huge.

We can win the NC and there will still be assholes on here bitching that we did not win it by a large enough margin. It only Kirby and that Monken guy would listen to the MUCH smarter pundits on here and play the ones that they KNOW are better…..Hell, we might even stand a chance.

These are miserable ass people. I got caught up fussing with one yesterday. If somebody can’t enjoy this season there is no hope for them. After the Florida game I was listening to the post game show on the radio. The very first caller started in on what an idiot Kirby is. Never found out why. They cut him off and hung up on him and said that if you can’t enjoy whipping Florida’s ass you need to just stop watching. And that’s pretty much how I feel about these people who still moan and holler even with the season Georgia is having. Just stop watching. It’s never going to be better than this.

I would say only two fanbases in the country give a shit about that game, but I am not certain that UF fans even care anymore. The few I know have completely tuned out. I texted one about the score of their game this past Saturday asking what in the hell was going on (since I wasn’t watching it) and he said he had no idea and wasn’t watching any additional Gator football this season.

A buddy of mine who is a life long gator and was a very loud and obnoxious one even into the Muschamp years told me the other night, “Man I watch y’all now. We are horrible.” I have to pinch myself sometimes to see if this is really happening.

I still feel like our offense is the product of an outstanding defense and talent edge rather than a truly scary unit on its own, but we’ll see.

The 2019 defense was only slightly worse than the one they’re fielding this year, and that offense was nowhere near as efficient.

as the senator says, “Slightly” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

YPP was 4.29 instead of 3.89 (with a game against an all-time great LSU offense mixed in). FPI currently rates this year’s efficiency as 95.9 compared to 88.9. They allowed five more points per game than the current figure. So yes, slightly.

But isn’t that stat from a whole years worth of games?
Check back with us after we slightly improve the stats by playing the rest of the schedule..(Charleston S. and GT).

Leaving out the playoff games, they’ll also play Alabama, which will probably cancel out the two patsies coming up. So they’ll end up about where they are now. The per game scoring average may or may not go up a little.

Whatever the F “EPA” is, I assume ours would be better if the D would quit giving us short fields to score. Selfish group, that D…

Expected Points Added per play.
Short fields actually help, because they decrease the number of plays needed to get points…. especially when you are top 10 (#8 at 6.89) in Yards Per Play.

I say this as a Stetson detractor – no way Kirby makes a change now. He’s the starter. The quicker you come to grips with that, the more fun the season will be.

We’re going 15-0 and I don’t think a single team is going to be a serious challenge.
Our defense is freakishly good and it is good in ways that really cannot be schemed around or countered. Our entire front 7 is too big, too fast, and too smart. Even in the NFL, elite offenses get destroyed by that kind of pressure. Even NFL teams have no answer for when a defensive front 7 is this good.
There are only two ways we don’t win the natty:
1) Too many injuries deplete our defense.
2) Stetson lets us down.
I know #2 will make some people mad, but he’s just worse at QB than JT. This should be obvious since JT has won the job over him numerous times.
I’m not saying Kirby is making the wrong call though. At this point, JT has been injured a lot and its very possible the team has really rallied around Stetson. If that is the case, then yanking the job away from him could be really bad. Losing some % of our potential offensive output might be worth it to maintain team chemistry.
Ultimately, I think CKS knows what he is doing. He put this incredible team (players + coaches) together.
We’ve been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. This year is different.
15-0. Enjoy it, my fellow Dawgs.
