TFW you can’t shake loose from that narrative

Nicole Auerbach ($$):

The jury’s still out on how good the Georgia offense can be…

Jesus Christ, Georgia’s third nationally in offensive yards per play and sixth nationally in scoring.  What exactly is your jury looking for?

Going into the OSU Michigan game I was hoping for a Michigan victory since I thought OSU would be a tougher out for the Dawgs. I still think OSU would have had a better chance at knocking us off even after yesterday but damn Michigan looked impressive.

I shouldn’t be surprised anymore at how wrong these paid expert writers are.
Just one week ago after destroying MSU many of the mid west homers were claiming tOSU to be a team for the ages. No way Georgia’s offense can keep up.
Please let Georgia play UM’s run based offense. Of course after beating UM it’ll still be Georgia hasn’t played anyone.

I agree. I listened to so many podcasts with the “analysts” asking each other how Michigan was going to be competitive with tOSU, and I kept thinking, tOSU has beaten up on really bad defenses. And Michigan has a real pass rush. Didn’t that in itself suggest Michigan could have a chance? Damn.

We ain’t played nobody, Paaaaaaaaawl! I want to crush Alabama. I don’t just want to beat them I want to break, I want to physically break those bitches. I want to see Nakobe and Tindall make Young horizontal so many times that he just quits. They didn’t deserve to win that game last night but of course some how, some way they did and some pretty egregious penalties went magically unseen late. I’m sick and tired of their entitlement and the officials helping them because they are supposedly “good for college football.” Destroy them, Dawgs.

C’mon, man. The offense has not faced a pressure situation since the first game of the year, and they didn’t exactly perform well in that one (I think we know why– totally new receivers, mainly, but still).

The narrative is what it is until we change it.

This ignores that almost weekly it was “Georgia won’t be able to handle________.” And each and every week they have made it look easy.

I’m not going on what “they” think, though. I’m going on what I watch every week, and it happens to make me also wonder.

You’ll have to forgive me if I’m not looking up at an Alabama offense that struggled mightily against Auburn. I will say Ohio State’s offense is definitely better but that does t matter now and beyond that it’s a wash.

Hola, amigo. I’m talking about this year’s offense only.
Guess which SEC team has allowed onlt 20 more rushing yards in the season than Georgia?

Now, I know actually considering the matchups and past performances aren’t your bag (based on your “comments”), but how do you see our offense stretching the field without Smith, Blaylock, or Pickens at full strength if we can’t run it effectively? (Give me an idea, here, seriously.)

If you’re going to tell me that we’ll stretch them the same way we played Tennessee, Missouri, or Arkansas (given that all of those were different), then I’m asking you the same follow-up re: what year’s games you’re watching.

How did Arkansas (42-35), Tennessee (52-24), UF (31-29) put up all those points on Bama with the same offenses we totally and completely shut down? I feel pretty sure our offense is better than those teams (proved it on the field). Can we lose? Sure we can. Anything is possible, but it will take a herculean effort by Bama coupled with a total melt down on offense and defense on our part. Possible sure. Probable? No according to the Las Vegas odds makers. Remember their money depends on it, so any homer bias is removed.

You’re right, they did. Gave up 244 yards on the ground vs. UF. Tennessee threw for 282 (ran for 65). Lost that game by 28 points, though, too. Arkansas ran for 100 but threw for 358.

But maybe there’s something in what Florida did that we can duplicate. I have a hard time seeing us throw for 300+ yards, though. So I guess I think there’s hope in that first point.

With Pickens on the field you can’t ignore him even if we are not sure what he has in the tank. Smith and Washington are always going to be there for that 5-10 yard check down. A steady march down the field does just as much or more damage to the psyche as the quick strike. With the quick strike you’re thinking what if? Just make that one adjustment and we have them. With the slow methodical grinding down the field, it brings on a feeling of despair that they’re just toying with you and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. As Bama found out last year, you better not forget about #4 on the wheel route out of the backfield. Maybe we don’t get 40+ against Bama, but I seriously doubt we need to.

Do you think the Georgia offense week 1 (where we controlled the game) is the same offense you saw later in the season? I don’t. Regardless of the Stet/JT debate, Monken has taken the parts he had available and put together a championship offense. It is the perfect complement to an otherworldly defense.

No, I don’t, but do fear that injuries to the WRs have resulted in problems that will still make it difficult to score against a great defense.

But we may have played the best defense we’ll face in game 1, so there’s that.

The two that really killed me were the face mask call that the refs discussed and called a no flag the Bama player had the guys helmet with his fingers clearly in his ear hole, that my friends is a penalty. You can’t use any opening in the helmet to tackle the runner. The second one was the a play like Stetson got called for grounding where our receiver ran the wrong way.
Young threw the ball where a Bama player had vacated the area to keep from getting sacked and there was no call.
I believe that since the SEC totally believes that UGA will get in even if we lose the SECCG that they will use their usual reliable Refs to screw us again. They want two in not one. The dirty little secret is that Sankey and his talking about liking the 4 team playoff shit is going to get us screwed. Tin foil hat firmly in place.

I’d say the offense had some pressure on them after UT went right through our defense on the first possession in Knoxville. They responded well.

The good thing is after this coming weekend it will all be put to bed. We beat Bama and the playoff candidates that follow of OK State, Cinci, Michigan, Notre Dame are all easier games that what we’ve faced all season.

Not exactly on topic but I like how all the talking heads are touting Cincy’s longest regular season winning streak. If the record doesn’t say what you want just ignore the Peach Bowl loss. Whatever it takes to push a narrative.

The jury is waiting on the Dawgs administering an Old Testament beat-down of Alabama in the SEC Championship game – but that will just be evidence that Alabama 2021 ain’t all that and a bag of Golden Flake potato chips.

If our D were average and we were winning these games 45-28 instead of 45-0, she’d be writing a column that questions if anybody could slow down our offense.

Lazy gonna lazy. Don’t care. Doesn’t matter. It’s going to take epic offense in the next three games to change the narrative. National media has seen one Georgia game this year and it was 10-3 Clemson with 7 off a pick 6. Same ol’ man ball outta Kirby. Story written for the year.

  11. Bluto, I love these articles…this is the antidote for rat poison, and they keep coming at the perfect time. CKS wants these Dawgs laser focused on Bama, not on how great they are…so be it.

Don’t forget our offense has won by a greater margin over many of the same competition than Bama this season. Auburn didn’t even have Bo yesterday and it took 4 OTs for Bama to win.

Will next Sat be a cake walk for the Dawgs? I hope it will be (and if it’s a Dawg fight that’s ok too) but based on the body of work from our team from this season, I like our friggin chances.

This season has been unbelievable, and we’re nearing the apex…Kirby is delivering for us….TCB baby

To listen to a whole bunch of folks out there, unless we get to the point where we no longer need to waste a scholarship on a punter and maybe even a PK, our offense sucks. We should score a TD every time we touch the ball in one or two plays at the most or else we’re failures. ANY INT thrown by Stetson should result in his immediate benching for the rest of the year. Any incompletion he throws is further proof he can’t win. Oh, and we should throw it to the Tight Ends. Obsviously Monken has no idea what he’s doing and it’s all Kirby’s fault for allowing it to happen. Did I miss anything?

Thanks for correcting my oversite. How could I forget he’s a midget that can not see where he’s throwing the ball? Kirby and Monken are obviously even bigger idiots for not recognizing this and correcting it NOW. I see this as the perfect parallel to Fromm and Eason. There is NO question who had the greater arm talent, yet Fromm took us to the brink of winning it all. It was NOT anything that he did that kept us from the NC. You think we get that far with Eason? Maybe. We are on a roll, so do you destroy team chemistry for the sake of maybe we could do better? I feel sorry for Daniels. Fate has been very cruel to him, but this is about the TEAM not an individual. As much as he hates sitting, he is mature enough to read the room. This team has chemistry. You don’t hear any grumblings from the locker room that there should be a QB change. He appears to be a very mature young man and will weigh his options at seasons end. In this day and age, if there was even an inkling of problems, social media would be on fire. Stetson has EARNED the respect of everyone and then just like the mailman he is, has delivered.

Well said, Texas. I also feel for JT. He’s a great kid and teammate, but fate has screwed him again (to this point). Stetson has done everything Monken has asked of him and then some, even though both Monken and Kirby doubted him.

Maybe JT has his moment in the playoffs in relief of Stet (would be some sweet irony against Bama for sure), but I’m convinced Stetson can lead us to it all. I get that others may feel differently and we won’t know for sure until the season is over. But I am damn sure enjoying the ride and live that the Mailman keeps delivering.

Unbeatable USC loses to TX in the NC game. Unbeatable Miami loses to Ohio State in the NC game. It happens. If UGA should lose, it will be proof we should have started JTD. If we switch and we lose it will be proof that SB should have been the starter and they were idiots to mess with team chemistry. If they win with SB, then well they just got lucky. If we win with JTD, then it will be told you so. Some people on here think they are clairvoyant but will break out that revisionist 20/20 hindsight to
support their point. Fortunately, Kirby and Monken are a hell of a lot smarter then all of us when it comes to these kinds of things. I doubt they really give a shit what folks on here think either before or after the game.

      130th.

I for one agree with Nicole. The hell you say? Look at it this way: the offense gets better every week, so what is the upper limit? I think she and I are wondering how damn good they can be. And fwiw you can go read it all without a subscription by clicking the link because the whole bit about Georgia was in the teaser part before they ask you to subscribe, and she is laudatory in the rest of the piece.

Compare two SEC QB’s productivity versus SEC competition.
One QB has completed 65.3% of his passes against SEC competition for 8.9 yards per attempt and a rating of 162.87.
The other has completed 63.5% of his passes for 10,8 yards per attempt and a rating of 163.73.

Which of the two is a Heisman candidate and which one is Stetson Bennett?
