Time to nosh.
- Some things never change.
- Honestly, I’m surprised I don’t see ledes like this more often.
- Mike Bobo’s explanation for Clowney’s play against North Carolina? “I thought he was trying to win the Heisman in the first 25 snaps by how hard he was playing, and I think he just got tired.”
- John L. Smith gets his bankruptcy discharge, keeps most of his deferred salary from Arkansas and can now focus on
what he’s good atcoaching. - Turns out what I thought might be an interesting story was nothing more than an ESPN promotion.
- This, however, isn’t.
- The game between Georgia and Clemson was the most-watched season opener since 2006 for ABC.
- Big Ten class: 22-year-old woman who tried to storm the field at a University of Iowa football game gets arrested, blows a .341 in jail and plans on getting a tattoo to commemorate the occasion.
- What is it with old farts wanting to get violent with Johnny Football?
- “We had Willie Nelson’s Georgia On My Mind blaring yesterday,” Spurrier said during his news conference Tuesday. “Most of our players thought it was Ray Charles, but it was Willie Nelson.”
Martinez is Coaching for UT? They’re screwed. Just go long baby b/c the DB will NEVER turn his head to find the ball.

My take is both he and CWM are now working for a head coach who won’t put up with their BS and is not afraid to get them to change their coaching techniques.
Tennessee may surprise some people this year.

The church and the Georgia Theater are sell outs. Neither should be helping the evil empire to promote a player from a rival school. I highly doubt this nonsense would happen in Tuscaloosa or Gainesville in helping to promote Todd Gurley.

That was my thought as well. Not to get overly dramatic, but why are our institutions promoting Clowney?

…or, even more offensively, ESPN?

I don’t get it. Why help promote an opposing player?

Agreed. That is just Chicken Stuff for two Athens institutions would be a part of that. As much as we question whether the Dawgs’ can hang with Carolina, can the Dawgs’ fans match Carolina’s crowd frenzy the showed last year?

Got to admit, the UF fan in Ohio that made his backyard a football field did a nice job, both with the college and NFL versions. I’m shocked the NCAA or the NFL didn’t sue him for licensing violations.

A very nice job, with the exception of the trees growing out of the sideline.

Bobby Petrino….Western Kentucky…Old joke about the dog sitting on the railroad track…train runs over the end of his tail…turns his head to look for the end of his tail…another train knocks his head off…and the punchline, Bobby?

I would think that Matt Millen, as an ardent PSU defender, would be a little more circumspect about saying he would put something up another guy’s butt.

It was almost as funny as Barry Switzer saying Manziel was anethema to “core values.” I guess Barry’s core values consist of pouring himself another Scotch, buying Marcus Dupree’s mom a new house, and banging his assistant coach’s wife.

Manziel is the Anti_Tebow. He is to college football what Casious Clay was to boxing in the 60’s ; cocky to the point that many wanted to see him get his head knocked off, and it only made him better. The dif is this…Manziel’s not a professional and can be reigned in…probably already has been read the riot act by his coach..But they can’t push a kid like this too hard or he’ll take his ball and go elsewhere.

By golly, you’re right! I hated Tebow because he is so pious. I don’t like Johnny “Cash” because he’s a wild child. I guess they have to be just a little corrupt and a little hypocritical for me to like them. 🙂

You gotta respect someone – anyone, really, but especially a 22 year old – that blow a legitimate .341. If you blow, you are conscious, right?

A good friend of mine in high school earned the nickname “.4” and he was conscious when the police administered the test.

Does anyone care about uniform stuff now that the real games have started?
I mean, besides me…there was a question last week on whether they would scrap the block letters on the helmets. They did switch to the new font on the helmets, it seems.

FWIW, I’m not a big fan of the new number fonts and thought the jersey collars looked a little strange.

Are we playing South Carolina or Clowney? Think the post by Scorpio re Petrino joke answers that. Most people around here talk about the play of FSU’s frosh QB, but I have tried to figure out how FSU has to two starting offensive linemen from the state of Georgia. One out Moultrie and one out of Jesup. Guess it goes back to what CMR says and recruiting.

Often said by country artists that Willie was a half beat off or behind. Think that was a reminder to Clowney…they [UGA Oline] is usually a half a step behind because of the snap count or cadence. Bet Shawn Elliott’s boy’s come of the line like a rocket, or they will catch an ear full from him.
