HUNH, indeed.

It’s a great world.  Players can’t make a nickel off their names or likenesses, but coaches and schools can seemingly trademark anything they can think of for a buck.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has trademarked his name and has a deal with Clemson’s licensing program to sell merchandise that bears his name. Ohio State is in the process of trademarking coach Urban Meyer’s name and the phrase “Urban Meyer Knows.”

I wonder if Corrine Brown has trademarked “Corch” yet.

All I know is this one’s mine.  Keep your hands off, Tim.

Most important, “He” knows that no matter the vigor of his public protests he ain’t sniffin’ a chance at the MNC in ’13! Ce la vie, Corch.

So…to the crowd that says a full ride scholly is enough compensation, then how do you justify this? Aren’t coaches paid enough? Schools either need to exclusively retain their licensing rights, or else share the wealth with ALL the participants that enhance the brand. My actual preference is the former, but that ain’t gonna happen.

All student athletes should get a piece of the pie, it is a win-win for the schools. There is “NO” free ride schollies, these kids work their butts off in their sport and have to maintain grades in the classroom,(accept in Alabama, both schools) or when they get hurt, Marshall, Bennett, Scott, what if these had been career ending… I’m just say’in “GO DAWGS”
