Learning experience, for the win

I couldn’t help but chuckle reading this:

Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons, who tipped that game-winning touchdown pass against Auburn, had six tackles and a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
“I asked him if he learned anything, he said, `Yes,” Richt said of their talk during the week. “I said `What was it? He said ‘Bat the ball down.’

Woe be unto the next football heaved in desperation against the Georgia defense.

Did you see the game Josh had?

    Almost worth the lesson.

FWIW….Stinchcomb pointed out the defense loses only one senior and, in his opinion, it would be a mistake to change DC’s at this point. “To start the defense all over again.”

But what does he know, right?

Batting the ball down doesn’t always work out much better. Just check out 2010 Auburn’s last play of the first half against SC in the SECCG. The SC DB batted it right into the Auburn receiver’s hands for a TD.

The above wasn’t supposed to be a reply to your post. However, do you mean we’ll be good next year kind of like how we were good last year? Oh, that’s right, we WEREN’T good on defense last year.

Agree. So Stinch is expecting the worst D in UGA history to be better next year if we do nothing? Turning 1 year older = improvement? For those who believe 1 year makes you better take a look at Damien Swann. What makes anyone think the D won’t be worse next year if we stand pat – because that’s how we’ve been trending under CTG.

We had a ton of experience on last year’s team on defense. That worked out to be a defense that finished behind Vandy in scoring and total defense and a rushing defense that was 12th in the SEC

Both Harvey-Clemons and Floyd are going to be crazy good next season. Of course it takes 9 others playing at a high level to win a championship.

I applaud JHC for a great effort and an awesome game last night. The kid appeared to play with a yet unseen passion and drive. Maybe it was to make up for the Auburn game. Maybe it was to send the seniors out on a high note. Whatever the reason, I tip my cap to JHC and the individual(s) responsible for lighting that fire! Hopefully the remainder of the D with be equally inspired after viewing the all-22. GATA!

This is what I feared was the case. Murray hurt it on the run, but refused to come out of the game. When the D-lineman twisted Murray with all his weight on him, the knee obviously couldn’t withstand the force. Hate it for the kid. He has been an unbelievable competitor with tremendous commitment to the program. DGD
