Habemus coordinator!, ctd.

It turns out you can put a price on desperation.

And perhaps we need to give Agent Muschamp some credit here.

Muschamp and Gators receivers coach Joker Phillips are familiar with Roper’s credentials. Muschamp faced Roper’s Ole Miss offense when he was defensive coordinator at LSU and Auburn, and Phillips was Kentucky’s offensive coordinator in 2005 when Roper was the Wildcats’ quarterbacks coach.

Pease coached at Kentucky, too.  Boom’s obviously got a Wildcat fetish.  Maybe he’s got a secret plan to turn Florida into a basketball school.

  1. Wildcat fetish….tough to break. Basketball school ? Not Florida. B ball is for indoor sports states.

All that money, for a guy who’s a place holder for Cuttcliffe the same as Kirby Smart is for Saban.

Obviously what I said yesterday was wrong. Foley agreed to a multi-year deal for an assistant. Maybe he’s not already decided to fire Boom. Still, paying $2.6 Mil over 3 seasons for an OC that may only be in Gainesville one season is fiscally (you fill in the blank).

Joker Phillips was once the Head Coach at the University of Kentucky, which is an SEC school. He now coaches WRs at Florida University. Theory; Joker Phillips keeps his head shaved so that he has no need for a mirror, thus significantly decreasing the chance of making eye contact with himself.

Think about this. Joker was the O-Coordinator and Roper was the QB coach, not Roper is the O-coordinator and Joker is the WR coach which to me is lower then QB coach.

How do schools with sooo many built-in advantages get into such desperate situations? Having fun with fu’s situation is kind of like whistling past the graveyard, as I don’t see their OC search much different than our DC search not so long ago.

Maybe its a lesson about head coaches who’d like to put one part of the team on autodrive under the full responsibility of a coordinator. If you do so, you’d better be damn sure about that coordinator’s ability. Pretty sure Boom’s run out of 2nd chances after this hire.

Except in our DC coaching search, we had the balls to contact, B Foster, J Chavis and K Smart. Granted they turned us down, but hey at least for some real names at big schools.

Last time FU hired a Duke coach it worked out pretty well for them.

Bobo was seen in the parking lot of B-M shaking his phone and muttering, “is this thing on?”

2.4 mil seems a little much for a OC from Duke?
