Bama fans down here are getting extremely pissy. They’ve gone from “don’t get attached to Kirby, we will just come get him when nick retires” to “Kirby had a decent year, but you only won the SEC because we were so banged up v Auburn, he can’t beat Nick” to (actual unsolicited comments yesterday) “KIRBY ISN’T A GOOD COACH HE MAKES LOTS OF BAD CALLS, FIELDS IS WAY BETTER THAN FROMM HE MISHANDLED THAT EVERYONE KNOWS IT, FROMM ISN’T ELITE, WE AREN’T WORRIED ABOUT UGA EVERYONE IS ALWAYS CHASING BAMA, KIRBY IS NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE COACH NICK IS HE CAN’T WIN BIG GAMES!!! ”
The screechiness of the protestations indicate to me that they may, in fact, see we are very, very, close to catching them. We haven’t yet, maybe we never will, but we are in their 6 and closing fast. Nick is what, 66? He won’t be there forever.
Btw, they all think Dabo sucks/is an idiot/cheats/ain’t got the balls to follow Nick because he knows he can’t measure up.
All I can say is I will be BOOMER SOONERing on December 29 like I grew up at knee of Bary Switzer in Norman.

I agree with you. I hope Oklahoma carves them up and can get enough stops to win. I’m sort of feeling the same way about Clemson. I don’t think ND has much of a chance, but if they can slow the game down, they could win. Sure, it would be a slap in the face of Southern football for an OU-ND championship game, but I’ve lost my regional alliance.
I used to have a lot of respect for Bama. Growing up I pulled for them to win except on the rare occasion we played them. No more … only when they play one of our rivals.

Kirby was clean as a whistle at Bama and never negative recruited. He didn’t learn that until he got to Georgia, because we have a long history of cheating that led to us being left at the altar by top recruits every signing day. This also led to those elite 8th ranked classes.
Also, any recruits we beat them for were dirty and looking for payouts. The ones they beat us for are all too virtuous to play the bagman game. Don’t you know how this works for the Gumps?

I’m starting to think OU can take them. I know Bama hasn’t seen anyone like Murray this year. The issue is that OU’s defense is horrid, absolutely terrible.

AP has us at 6 behind the four playoff teams and Ohio State. While everyone knows Georgia is really #2, the Dawgrading will continue to the benefit of ESPN and Herbie’s first love.
If Alabama wins it…and Georgia handles Texas..Georgia is clearly 2..but don’t bet on any love from the pollsters.

Is there a fanbase that has fallen further than Alabama’s in the past three years? The pompous BS from their fans who continually act as if there is no one else on the planet that can contend with them? Have they been asleep when watching? What they have accomplished is truly remarkable, but they have been challenged, and beaten, and probably had more good fortune come their way than any team deserves. The response to that is how dare you feel we aren’t superior? Just dumb, they have closed the gap with ohio’s group of entitled, mouthy fans. (I have to admit, the CF fans are closing the gap on Bama and ohio but they so minor league no one takes them seriously yet.) I have some rational Bama friends but overall they are just an embarrassing group in how they are handling their success.
I don’t see OU staying with Bama at all, but upsets happen. Along with us, the Sooner offense is the only one with much chance of success to move the ball against that defense. My guess is the SECCG was the most competitive game of the postseason the Tide will face.
