TFW your heart is pure

This shit, via TAMU’s Rivals site, just cracks me up.

Do you believe Georgia and Alabama pay players to commit to their school? If so, why doesn’t the NCAA do something about it, see Question #1. (Big Smoothie)

A: Is water wet? And why doesn’t the NCAA do anything about it? They’re scared, impotent, understaffed and deathly afraid of mutually assured destruction. It’s easier to act like you’re working than actually work.

Jimbo Fisher worked for Nick Saban, with Kirby Smart and is currently at one of the few schools that arguably can marshal greater financial resources in the name of football than either Alabama or Georgia, but, sure, man, whatever hypocritical nonsense gets you through the night.  It’s reassuring to hear there is no sausage being made in College Station.

If there is widespread paying/cheating going on in CFB—then A&M is tits high in it

Yet it was Texas A&M who had a guy take money in 2013 and not receive any real punishment for it. I have only been to Texas twice and have nothing against the state but A&M is Georgia Tech with money.

As soon as he can explain why those 5 and 4 stars would come to A&M with offers from Bama and Georgia – then I’ll listen. If he thinks it’s because they LOVE A&M so much that they would be turning down tons of cash to play at programs that have been much more successful than their own, I’ll give this type of stupidity some thought.

It’s real simple… Either they are all cheating or nobody’s cheating… There really is no in-between here.

It’s probably worth noting that Rush Propst is now backing off of his allegations.

“Rush Propst, the Valdosta High coach who leveled charges in a taped conversation that UGA and Alabama were aware boosters were paying recruits to play for those football programs, denies that he actually had knowledge of that.

‘Yes, no truth to any of it,’ Propst told the Athens Banner-Herald Friday morning in a text message.”

I don’t necessarily disagree with anything in the answer, I just don’t think it necessarily pertains to the question that was asked….

A TAMU BoT member dropped 100K to park a vintage WW2 tank in his front yard. I’m pretty sure he’d pay the same to park a 5-star on the D line.

For what it’s worth….I was over there yesterday for a full bar restock at Specs and while driving around their MASSIVE campus I told my wife that Athens would love to have more space to grow our beloved University. Their football stadium towers over the entire town and the academic buildings are a site for sore eyes!
A&M may have many problems, but MONEY ain’t one of them!

I presume you mean any of the 20 or-so Athens’ located elsewhere across the United States, and not the one in Georgia, right?

It’s always the teams at the top that must be cheating isn’t it? Now allow me to introduce you to the Tennessee Volunteers.

TAMU knows a thing of two about paying players from their old SWC days. We are all familiar with the SMU death penalty and the ESPN 30 for 30 “Pony Excess”. Whether the story this true or not, I don’t know, but I have heard it from several sources over the last 20 years in Texas. Eric Dickerson was all set to go to TAMU. At the last minute, he flips to SMU and shows up on campus with a new Trans Am. Did SMU give it to him? Nope. TAMU boosters gave to him BEFORE signing day but SMU upped the ante and he flipped to the mustangs. What was TAMU supposed to do? Ask for the car back. No running back and no car. Fortunately for TAMU and all the big SWC schools, they were so flush with money, it was just the price of doing business.

Yeah, we all know and respect Jimbo as a stand up guy beyond reproach. I remember fondly how well he handled the Jameis Winston matter(s). His unwavering commitment to doing things the right way and all…right?
