Pace yourself.

Here’s a chart worth looking over:

At 2.1 plays per minute, Georgia ranks 108th nationally.  No doubt some of that can be chalked up to slowing things down due to big second half leads, but this is a team that operates at a deliberate pace, although it will resort to hurry up now and then.

Arkansas runs 2.25 plays per minute.  That’s 79th.  Briles doesn’t exactly race against the clock, either.

Between those figures and the likelihood that both defenses are going to deploy in a manner designed to make the offenses work their way down the field, the under (48.5) looks awfully good from where I sit.

The under is great if Arky doesn’t score. If they get to double digits, I’d say the under play is at risk. If you don’t think Arky gets to 10, play it.

35+ for us seems very doable.

Depends on if our O can maintain it’s efficiency against a solid team this week. Isn’t part of our “problem” in this stat category due to high success rate?

If we score less than 35 I’ll be disappointed. We are better than them.

I don’t know, I kind of feel like if Georgia is up by two or more scores, like 14-0 or 17-0, that Daniels is coming out and we see SBIV the rest of the way. For whatever reason, I like Arkansas to cover and the total to go under. Like 27-10 or 30-13 or something like that.

But what do I know. Reportedly a lot of money coming into Vegas on Arkansas to cover, yet the line isn’t moving. The wise guys must be pretty confident that Georgia is going to cover the number if the line isn’t going down to get more Georgia action.

  4. So the Vols are first in the nation in plays per minute, but only 76th (and 12th in the SEC) in yards per play.

Tennessee: We suck, but at least we do it quickly.

If I was a gambler the under seems to be a great play to me. Their starting 11 on defense is really good. Loaded with seniors, super seniors and a couple of transfers on the d line from Missouri that are battle tested and talented. Lack of depth is their weakness. Their style of defense is to not allow big plays forcing teams to make long slow drives. That’s something Georgia has not done a lot of.
I think Georgia wins comfortably just not the cake walk many seem to expect.

Are we gonna break out the Final Jeopardy song to pass the time tomorrow? Last week Clemson and NC State took close to four hours.

I’m worried we scored all our touchdowns already against Vandy. We didn’t even need one. Gotta save ’em for games like this.

Yeah, I just said above I feel like 27-10 or 30-13 or something like that. I think we see more of SBIV than Daniels tomorrow.

  9. I’m loving the over. Arkys offense will make Georgia go away from their strengths (aggressive DL) and work our weaknesses (linebackers and Dbs not playing disciplined).

Arky gets out to a lead and we grind them down to score 35 by end of 4th. 35-24

Slowing things down? Between plays, maybe. But when ball is snapped live, my understanding is JT releases it faster than any QB in college. Other translation: 2nd, 3rd & 4th string QBs in the game will melt clock, not to mention putting a hurting on their tired D players who need attention, as well as the fake injuries & penalties by our opponents. I look forward to more of us dictating our own pace & imposing our will…play to play, down to down.
