Another week of bye weeks, so there are a lot of DNP’s in the net change category.  (As always, stats via cfbstats.com.)

  5. Auburn:  1.43 (6.45 o; 5.25 d) [NC:  -.15]
  6. Texas A&M 1.25 (6.01 o; 4.76 d) [NC: DNP]

  13. Missouri -.35 (6.33 o; 6.68 d) [NC: +.19]
  14. Vanderbilt -2.11 (4.50 o; 6.61 d) [NC: +.12]

Turnover margin, after week six:

  • +8:  Ole Miss
  • +7:  Alabama
  • +3:  Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee
  • +1:  Arkansas, Mississippi State
  •   0:  Auburn
  • -1:  South Carolina, Texas A&M
  • -3:  Vanderbilt
  • -7:  Florida
  • -12:  Kentucky

Observations:

  • Yawning gap between 1 and 2 is matched by one at 13 and 14.
  • Kentucky has been flirting with turnover margin disaster all season.  Saturday, it caught up with them.
  • Georgia now sports a higher offensive ypp than Ole Miss does.
  • Georgia is also the only SEC team over the magic net 2.0 figure.

  1. I’m guessing the Dawgs will likely be getting a big bump over the next few weeks.

Next Saturday has the possibility of getting very ugly by the 2nd quarter.

      • I’m concerned about a late arriving crowd and a flat stadium environment on Saturday. Not enough to make a difference in the outcome, but enough that a high 30s spread seems difficult to overcome.

39 points is massive but probably doable even with a sub-par offensive performance. I just want to see us keep our foot on the gas with our starters for a full two quarters and then send the backups in for the 2nd half to mop them up.

I do think that JTD needs to get into this game as it seems like the perfect setup to shake the rust off.

Only about a third of an inch separates UGA, UF and Alabama per offensive play. That amounts to variations in officials tossing the ball to locate a spot.

I wonder what the YPP number loos like without other teams’ moral victory TDs in blowout 4th quarters.

  4. To me, the fact that the Dawgs have been able to dominate the way they have even without inordinate blessings from the Turnover Gods is one of the most impressive things about this season.
