I was thinking the same thing as the ACC and Pac 12 are both out. Throw in the likelihood that the Big 12 is out. $ankey finds himself this morning as the unofficial commissioner of college football.

No. If we beat them, the field will be Georgia, B1G champion (unless something really weird happens in the B1GCG), Cincinnati, and the Big 12 champion (if 1 loss). If Bama wins, it will be Bama, Big 12 champion, Cincy and either a 1-loss Big 12 champion or Georgia (yes, I don’t trust the committee to put us in with a loss in Atlanta).
For Bama to make it as a 2-loss non-conference champion would require a ton of chaos.

We’ll see. Just because everyone in the chattering class is saying it doesn’t mean those in the committee room will have their conference loyalties checked at the door. If an Oklahoma school is sitting there as the Big 12 champion with 1 loss, there will be a tug to say conference championships matter. There will also be a political tug against 2 from the big, bad SEC.
