Today’s thought for today:

I guess that’s why you pay him the big bucks.

If Jimbo plans to stay at Aggyville he has got to get out and find himself a food-stealing, co-ed raping, unicorn of a quarterback. the food-stealing and raping part is fairly easy.

My annoying FSU fan brother in law still defends Winston to this day and talks about how he wasn’t a bad kid or a problem child. Of course his take away after getting throttled by Alabama in ‘17 was “We very possibly have the best defense in the country.” He’s a homer of the first order and thinks the NC runs through Tallahassee and the ACC is a good conference.

The only thing that runs through Tallahassee is 319.

He’s not a bad guy but he is delusional. It’s so funny being around him when Georgia is playing. He has a cursory knowledge of the team but it’s a mile wide and about an inch deep. We were staying at a cabin in the mountains Labor Day weekend and were watching the Oregon game. He was constantly asking, “Now who is THAT guy?!” when somebody would make a play. He really thought Brock Bowers was going to be our entire offense this year. He thought the defense wouldn’t be very good. He truly doesn’t understand FSU is not in Georgia’s universe in any way, shape, or form. Seeing him go through that cognitive dissonance was really funny. At one point he said, “I didn’t think McConkey was all that good.” as he watched in disbelief while Ladd torched and juked around Oregon’s defenders.

I hope they don’t fire him. Make him stay at that crap hole for another 10 years

I would put money that he doesn’t coach the Aggies in 2023.

I’m sure that this is sarcasm, but can you imagine a world where Saban would invite Jimbo to be a part of the Alabama Fired Coaches Rehabilitation Program after what transpired last offseason?

I like the theory that Jimbo is truing deliberately to get fired so he can ride out that sweet, sweet buyout.

It’s amazing he has convinced two different schools to lay him a lot of money for really not doing much of anything. What in the world was going on in college football that year that crab legs was able to win a NC basically by himself? That was in ‘13? Georgia lost their entire offense at Kneeland. Alabama was kept out because of the kick 6? I can’t remember. I’ve blocked a lot of those last few Richt years out of my memory other than the SC and LSU games in ‘13. Those two are games I am glad I was in the stadium to see.

I just don’t see tamu keeping Jimbo, even with the gargantuan buyout.

Hugh freeze is a white hot commodity right now. He can sit back and let aubie and tamu bid against eachother.

I hope they’ve added more resources to the portal because Jimbo’s 2022 class is about to crash it

The scary thing is someone had shared that you could buy a hitman for less than his buyout. If I’m Jimbo’s wife, I’m checking up on the will and life insurance policy.

A&M must have private investigators all over Jimbo trying to find any technical violation of his contract to justify termination for cause. Soon they’ll give him the George Constanza treatment and board up the entrance to his office.

Hey, I didn’t know Dogwood Maple was on Twitter (for now). His posts on r/CFB are legendary.

  11. You’ve got to wonder how all this is going to affect A&M in the long term. They may have ritzy facilities and cubic yards of NIL money to burn, but if recruits perceive Jimbo as a ninety-million-dollar laughingstock who’ll never so much as sniff a playoff spot—a perception rival coaches will be only too happy to reinforce—the Aggies could be staring up from the SEC basement for quite a while.

The App State loss seems like ages ago and while A&M was a fraud, at least it looked like App State might be pretty good in 2022 after the 63-61 loss to UNC the week before they beat A&M. Now App State sits at 5-5 with a good chance at 6-6 or 5-7 to end the season. Says a lot.

Jimbo doesn’t get enough credit for running FSU into the ground. They are only now “decent” after being on their 2d coach since he left. I realize that nothing is permanent but with their advantages in that terrible league they should never be worse than 8-4 or 9-3. Yet his mismanagement has caused them to have to totally rebuild less than 10 years from a playoff appearance and only 6-7 years from being a perennial top 10 team.

All the talking heads keep saying that TAMU and Jimbo need to hire an OC. All they have to do is look inward. They already have an experienced OC on staff that could keep things rolling along just like they are. His name is James Coley.

They can try whatever they want, long as it’s not a $100MM head coaching contract for Todd Monken. Have a feeling lots of schools are going to try and poach him after this year.

  17. Jimbo can go ahead and make vacation plans for December. If your reaction is “That would be stupid with that buyout” you don’t and never will understand Aggies.

Sarkasian is probably not far behind.

I originally thought that Jimbo would be safe until at least after 2025. I have a hard time imagining Sark being gone since he was just hired in January of 2021. That being said, the people in charge at A&M, UT, and OU know that SEC expansion is coming and the leashes might be awfully short in order for those programs to get a restart before UT and OU join the league and shit gets really real and a few bad seasons right of the bat in the new environment could wreck your program for a decade. And yes, that means Venables might be on the block as well if year two doesn’t pan out better than year one.
