Tidbits to sample at week’s end…
- Tyler picks up the first Agent Muschamp replacement list. The awesome part is that Jeremy Pruitt, yet to coach a down of live ball at Georgia, is on that list.
- Speaking of Boom, there’s no rule that says you can’t have two straight years of shitty luck with injuries.
- If you’re Malcolm Mitchell and you find yourself with some extra time on your hands, what do you do? Well, you join a book club.
- Steve Spurrier invited the local media in to watch film. It went about as you’d expect.
- Does the SEC really care about Big Game Bob’s complaints? I have my doubts.
- Speaking of complaints few care about, Bob Kustra rolls on.
- The current state of college athletics in two sentences: “According to Big 12 leaders, athletes should have to share the revenue they generate for the school with other athletes for the good of the country. But institutions have no responsibility to share the revenue they generate with other institutions who are part of the same division within the same association.”
- Excellent breakdown of Urban Meyer’s money play, the inside zone read.
- How much effect will all the new SEC quarterbacks have on early season results?
- You need a hype video with a little James Brown tossed in? I got your hype video right here.
There’s a lot more meat on the buffet this time of year. And “Who y’all got?” starts to come up around the water cooler.
My tickets hit the mailbox Wednesday and I was blown away by the size of the Tennessee ticket. What did folks think about that??

It’s the Vince Dooley 50 years commemorative ticket, to go along with the 50th anniversary commemorative 32oz. soda cup.
Beats having to sit through Lee Greenwood during the Charleston Southern game. Good heavens. How much appreciation are you showing the military by relegating them to Charleston Southern? (Also, no Georgians available to sing? In Athens? Dubious.)

As the wife and daughter of a vet I am looking forward to seeing Lee Greenwood no one sings Proud to be An American like he does. The game closest to Veteran’s Day is Auburn and there won’t be extra tickets for that one. I think UGA does a great job of honoring the military.

Tip of the hat to you Debby. I will always remember tears in my eyes when he sang that after 9/11, and when Ray Charles sang America The Beautiful at home plate in Arizona during the World Series in 2011, and when W took the mound in NYC to throw out the first pitch in that first series game. Unfortunately, many Americans have forgotten that period of time, and the lessons it should have taught us. Now some apologize for what America has meant to the world. Thanks to your dad and your son for their service.

That is why it’s so important to use songs
“Lee Greenwood’s schlocky ‘I’m Proud to be an American’ is the unofficial National Anthem for red state America. As such, any affront to this sacred song becomes a cause célèbre in right wing world…”

Not liking country music doesn’t make me hate vets, not even my father, who earned a Bronze Star in Vietnam. But thanks for that!

No one attacked you as a hater (although we have some here) that I can see. You don’t really think they chose him to come because he is a “country singer” do you? Seems he is a pretty appropriate choice for the occasion, and I bet the troops attending, and your father, might understand that.
As interesting is “not liking country music”, all of it? With all it’s nuances and evolutionary changes? It might be the largest, most popular, genre because of it’s breadth, something for everyone I suppose. But it doesn’t mean every song, or every artist is good. Have to admit though, I once felt that way too and now it is the one I spend the most time listening to over the course of a week, month, or year.

Re: FU’s injury hoodoo – What’s worse for them? Hargreaves out or the fact that the team is brawling? We saw a little UGA mano a mano in the Telegraph vid the other day but a bench clearing brawl between two units on the first day? There’s some love going around on the Snake Farm in Hogtown.
Re: Malcolm Mitchell – to paraphrase Ben Franklin, older women don’t swell, don’t smell, don’t tell and they’re grateful as hell.

If UF goes with another assistant, Chad Morris will be at or near the top o the Agent Will replacement list.

Not that I hope they ever figure it out again, but the formula Florida struck gold with twice is to go after a head coach at a smaller school that has developed a system that wins with less talent, then let him plug Florida’s studs into it. Going the assistant route hasn’t worked so well for them. So somebody like Kingsbury(though he probably wouldn’t leave his alma mater), the guy at UL-Lafayette, or Willie Taggart is where I could see them going.

Great hype video. It’s an understatement to say that the combination of Herschel Walker and James Brown is invigorating. Splice in some occasional Munson and it’s almost more than an old Dawg can bear (especially if you watch it 3X).

So…it was good for you too? LOL
On another point from the buffet, there is no way FU is going to hire another defensive minded HC following the Agent Muschamp fiasco. Especially an unproven one with ties to both UGA and FSU.

+1 – Spurrier was an offensive minded and proven head coach who was replaced by Zook, a career defensive assistant.
Meyer was an offensive minded proven head coach who was replaced by Muschamp, a career defensive assistant.
There is no way they hire another defensive assistant. They will go for offense and someone who has been a proven head coach. Also, they are not averse to hiring someone from outside the SEC arena (although it would make for great drama if they went after Sumlin) so maybe they go try to hire the guy from Arizona St?

I’m thinking Florida replaces Muschamp with Tebow. A couple of years in the NFL and a year as an analyst on the SEC network and he should be good to go. Might not be great on X’s and O’s, but he’ll give one hell of a pregame speach. Plus it’s the same formula that work with Spurrier, bring back a great former gator QB…except for the prior coaching experience, etc…

And tebow can cry when they lose.

Florida and Auburn probably return most experienced and productive QBs. Pllus their offenses are very suitable to the QBs.
Dawgs offense with Mason will be tested by Carolina on the road, Missouri on the road, UT, Vandy, and Florida. Probably a drop off in scoring. So Dawgs D and special teams have to be much better, but a very inexperienced secondary will be sorely challenged.
How will the H back come into play for short passing game and inside / outside rushing by the TBs.

You do know Driskel is the FU QB, correct? Never seen his name and “productive” used in the same sentence. He was very productive at Miami last year.

For Driskel, it’s going to be a matter of if he can avoid the disastrous error. You mentioned the Miami game, he actually looked great at times in that game. Threw for 291 yards, completion rate of 67%. But the problem was that when he did make a mistake, it was a back-breaking mistake. He’d put together a beautiful drive, get them all the way down the field…….then throw a horrible pick or he’d fumble it. Being that he’s in an offense now that is more suited to his style, he has the potential to be a pretty decent QB. I’m hoping he keeps that knack for back-breaking plays, but I gotta admit I’m a little worried that Roper is gonna get him straightened out and turn him into a more dangerous QB than we expect.
