Yeah, this has aged well.
UGA’s staff knows that the talent margin is closing, that we are no longer a team with a couple of nice pieces – that we are getting deep. Sandridge was a cannon shot. A championship playoff run, at a position of need, and we still get the commitment – regardless of what is being written about currently (and make no mistake, it isn’t a coincidence).
It has been a long time since we’ve been this deep. On the staff and on the roster. It’s the middle of July and we are all in the same range of commitments and we are ahead of them. Pressure is all on them.
This is what cracking under pressure looks like.
Chalk that up partly to Kirby’s prowess on the recruiting trail and partly to the 2013 signing class finally dropping out of the calculations. And here’s hoping that’s the last time I’ll refer to that smoking crater at this blog.
Strangely, the Chikins aren’t peeping much this summer. They’ve been overtaken by Florida as the preseason yammering champs. It’s a bold strategy, let’s see how that works out for them. 😀

They know they have a hellish schedule with the consensus preseason top 3. Any crowing from them is just that.

I’m kind of surprised LSU is ranked that high. I don’t know why these kids love Orgeron so much but they seem to for some reason.

Agreed. Also – crazy how stacked the SEC is in those rankings.

And, one has to admit, the Lordly Dabo is doing as good a job as anyone coaching ’em up. Ugh, and I have to live here.

The state of Louisiana pumps out a lot of NFL talent and there’s only one Power 5 program in the state that receives all the funding and support. LSU’s never lacked in the talent department, no matter the coach.

LSU has recruited well for years, except for QB for some reason. Plus, the results don’t show when you’re in the same division with the Death Star.

Still great that if you believe what you read…the Inn was full when he tried to commit. You could argue that maybe taking Bush over him was a mistake, but at this point both are positions of need given the WR exodus last year.

It may have been for a solitary play but I watched Gilliard roll Sandridge like a bowling ball.

Yeah, I almost felt embarrassed for the kid. Lamont treated him like a big dummy.

And Florida isn’t falling behind as fast as they were, so to some that means they’re gaining on us? 😉 Of course, that’s not including the smoking crater their 2019 class is turning out to be.

Looking at that list, I’d rank utk as the biggest under performer, followed closely by FSU, then USC.

I still say there is a bar bell aspect to Clemson’s recruiting without the data to prove it. A relatively large number of high 4 and 5 stars that are married with lower rated recruits. Not to say that haven’t coached up but that rankings don’t fully capture their class strengths. Deshaun would be an example.
