  1. To hear the Boise fans talk if Moore had been the qb in 2005 they would have beaten Georgia. The way the offensive line played for them had nothing to do with how bad they played.

To hear the Boise fans talk, their D linemen are 900 mechanical gorillas sent back from the future to kill Aaron Murray. And eat potatoes. (they really like potatoes in Idaho)

        (900 pound)

It’s more terrifying if it’s 900 mechanical gorillas instead of just 900 pound single units.

I’ve never seen a 900 pound mechanical gorilla, nor have I seen 900 normal sized mechanical gorillas. However, I have to assume you may be right.

              Their D-linemen are actually undersized.

That’s what I thought, but to hear them tell it, they are either several 900 pound mechanical gorillas, or alternatively, 900 regular sized mechanical gorillas. Either way, it’s established that they have been sent back from the future to assassinate Aaron Murray.

Jared Zabransky may be involved with the coin toss. I’ll take that as a good sign.

I didn’t realize BSU’s safeties were as big as they are. Both of them around 6-3. I’m not sure if that makes any difference, but I kind of expected them to be smaller, given that both their corners are under 6′.

Regarding conventional wisdom, I guess it depends on how you define “early”. Focusing on September seems an arbitrary cutoff. FSU in 2000 lost the first weekend of October. In 2003, LSU lost their first game in October (though Oklahoma did lose their last game and still got in). In 2006, Florida lost the second week of October. 2001 and 2007 were weird years, with the former producing probably the most controversial title game participant and the latter producing the only mutli-loss national champion. 1999, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2010 saw undefeated matchups. Factoring in the teams who blew a chance at the title game late in the season (2001 Tennessee, like five different teams in 2007, etc.) I’d say you’re better off losing early.

The article also provides zero info on who they lost too.

If you lose to a mediocre team or even to a mid-major team in Sept – that’s probably more of a black mark on your BCS resume than losing a game to a ranked conference opponent late in the season.

It’s good to see that Florida’s players and fans have fallen into the trap of declaring young players “The Next Tebow” just like we’ve been hanging “The Next Herschel” on our running backs for years. That never ends well.

Speaking of LSU’s offense, does anyone know anything about Mettenberger’s status there? I thought he was poised to come in and do big things, but his named wasn’t even mentioned during SportsCenter’s “What will LSU do without Jordan Jefferson?” discussion this morning. I find it hard to believe that Jarrett “Pick 6” Lee is that much better than Mettenberger.

Hey I’m glad that BSU is not focusing on us (if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll sell cheap.) Ole Chris has waited 5 long years to redeem his Smurfs for the beat down of a generation and as much as he tries to deflect it he would be less than human to not be pumped.

I’m sure they are focused on the game and pumped and all of that, but it does sound like Hawkins overemphasized it and built Georgia into a larger than life opponent last time.

Add in the HOPE scholarship on top of those Pell grants. In-state Georgia and Georgia Tech players must be making bank. HOPE and Pell grants together pays for my entire tuition plus about half of my rent. These players are pulling in like 10-20k+ each depending on the amount of Pell grant money. I can’t believe other schools don’t whine about the “unfair advantage” the HOPE scholarship gives us in recruiting.

Andy Staples at SI.com has UGA going 6-6 (3-5) this year. Not sure if he’s a total ass-clown, but if he’s right I’ll send him a bottle of his favorite liquor.

    • I posted about this before. Make sure you read Andy’s qualifier:

In the SEC, schedule matters. Which is why if my prediction about Georgia’s record is wrong, it probably will be astoundingly wrong. The Bulldogs play only three true road games in conference play (Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt). Their other two games away from Sanford Stadium (Boise State and Georgia Tech) will be in Atlanta, 67 miles from Athens. If Richt does turn things around, the schedule could help the Bulldogs come back in a big way.

That’s really no different that what many of us are saying. It’s just hard to get a handle on Georgia’s prospects this season right now.
