Monday morning buffet

Knock yourselves out.

  • How does the transfer portal work?
  • ESPN’s Football Power Index projects Bama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma as favorites in every game on their respective schedules.
  • Here’s a look at the politics behind the move to name the Sanford Stadium field in honor of Vince Dooley.  Let’s just say Don Leebern wound up on the wrong side of history.
  • USA Today’s Paul Myerberg saw the same thing I saw at G-Day:  “The Bulldogs’ series of practices revealed a team loaded with underclassmen talent set to contribute at many important spots — such as the secondary, for example, which coach Kirby Smart singled out for praise multiple times in April.”
  • Pete Fiutak’s take on this year’s Auburn team“This year, grade the Tigers on a curve.”
  • Dabo is “disappointed” his program was mentioned unfavorably in the federal corruption trial into college basketball.  No shit, Sherlock.
  • Today’s SEC returning player stat may surprise you a little.

    Re: Auburn

8 wins isn’t enough. He has to beat both UGA and Bama and get back to the SEC Championship. Boosters are out for his blood this year.

That deal Auburn gave Malzahn keeps looking better and better. I mean, that’s why you pay the big money, 8 wins and tied for third in the SEC West.

The Auburn article name-drops the best name in the SEC, Nigerian basketball signee and offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho, Jr.

That tap dance of fabricated indignation from Dabo is textbook. Never specifically addresses the allegations. Just vague assertions of nobility. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Why do I get the feeling that Auburn is a trap game on the plains this year? I hope it’s just my inner Munson.

Not if it clinches the East for us.

Auburn is often dangerous when they are predicted to be down and Smart hasn’t won a SEC West road game.

I am optimistic but I hear my inner Munson as well.

Kirby needs to exorcize the SEC road game demon that continues to haunt him and his staff. Auburn on the road is always tough, but I’d rather face them on the road than A&M, a team that will surely be improving and hungry under year 2 with Jimbo.

The main difference in Clemson and Auburn is that PCB polluted lake. Same type of corrupt boosters. Same type of trashy, redneck fans. Ex players robbing current players. Where does a college student get $30,000 cash that he keeps lying around his apartment?
I don’t like those people. Clemson sucks.

The top returning player list is for defensive stops among DB’s. What exactly is a defensive stop? I would think that it’s another word for tackle but Lecount leading with 22 seems low for tackles.

I can’t find a definition, but I’m going to guess that it is something like the number of plays where you were responsible for a turnover on any down and either broke up a pass or made a tackle on a completion short of the line to make on third down..

      Never mind. I found one:
“A stop is a play where a defender makes a tackle, and the location of the tackle means the play is a successful one for the defense.” Basically, if the tackle you make on the first two downs is short of a certain percentage of first down yards and if it’s simply short of the first down on third or fourth.

Ah, thanks. It feels like that’s one of the more random stats that is calculated. I wonder how indicative it is of a player’s actual overall play. I’m sure it’s a position driven stat similar to sacks and an edge rusher. Either way, I’m happy that Richard is one of the best at getting those stops!
