The ol’ cannon shot ain’t firing like it used to.

Gotta tell you — this is some lame smack talk.

“If”?  “Possible”?  Weak sauce, my man.  And most of the rest of the comment thread is taken up with his fellow fans trying to talk him off the ledge!  What the hell has happened to the cocky bunch we knew and mocked?

The less things change, the more they stay the same.

Those of you who are convinced that Mike Bobo has completely uprooted Todd Monken’s beautiful playbook garden probably aren’t going to like Graham’s tweet, but everyone ought to read it.

Man, why can’t facts respect the subjective narrative?

“I feel like our identity is still the same.”

Oh, my.

… Speaking Monday to reporters after the defeat, Booker offered a new perspective on the topic that incorporated the concept of a generational gap between current and past Alabama players.

“We get compared to a lot of the older Bama teams, and it’s just — time has passed,” Booker said. “Now me saying that, we’re still playing to the ‘Bama standard. We still want to play the same way those teams have played.

“But it’s just a different generation of guys. Different group of guys. There’s different things we have to deal with as college athletes today. Regardless of that fact, we’re still playing to the ‘Bama standard. The ‘Bama standard is the goal, week-in, week-out.

“Those guys [in the past], they laid the groundwork. They laid the foundation of who we need to be as a team. Us being the future, we adjust to that. But at the end of the day, it all refers back to the standard.”

“A different generation of guys”?  Nick Saban is so fucked.

UPDATE:

Jeebus.  At what point does Saban tell this kid to put a lid on it?

Clock tweaking

I admit to being a little puzzled by this.

First of all, if there’s anybody who should be happy about the new clock rules shrinking possessions, given the way he manages a game, it’s Mark Stoops.  Second, while the new rules affect the running of the game clock, the play clock continues to operate in the same manner as before.  So what’s the problem here, exactly?

Anybody have a clue?

Fake juice for fans?

C’mon, Kirbs.  This feels like you’re trying too hard.

Kirby Smart took the question teed up for him and ran with it.

How important is it, the Georgia football coach was asked Monday, that Sanford Stadium has been one of the toughest places to play?

Smart was asked that after being told that South Carolina defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway didn’t list Georgia as one of the toughest road venues in the SEC at the league’s media days in July in Nashville.

“Yeah, I’m expecting it to be that,” Smart said. “If people want to question whether our fans are elite, we’ll find out Saturday, right? It sounds like Tonka called them out. Maybe use Tonka for motivation and let him be the one that spurns our group to come out there at 3:30 and be really loud and fired up. I certainly hope our fan base will. They’ve answered the bell every single time. I don’t know why they wouldn’t now.”

It’s an SEC home opener against the hated ‘Cocks!  We aren’t going to need any extra coaxing to get loud and proud.

TFW you can afford not to feel any shame

Jimbo, Jimbo, Jimbo…

Pathetic.  But I almost have to give him credit for delivering it with a straight face.

The new ‘Bama standard

That’s what he said last year, didn’t he?

Sounds like The Process may be glitching a little.
