At least they didn’t ask him about why the players were cramping up in the 2nd half……….

Good for Kevin Wilson. those sports reporters were lucky the weren’t interviewing Paul Johnson. If they had been they would be getting a punch in the face next time they saw him in person.

Actually I don’t blame him. He is trying to establish something. And for a former Illini QB to make fun of Indiana is a bit much. Champagne, Illinois is not exactly South Bend or Ann Arbor or Norman or Tuscaloosa or Athens.

My thoughts exactly. I really get tired of the New York-style of sports talk radio hosts like these guys. They’re so self-important that they spend the next ten minutes discussing how offended they were that this head coach of a Division 1 football program would DARE to be defensive about them talking smack about his school, as if they can’t comprehend someone having THE NERVE to speak to them like that. Doesn’t he know who they are?! No, dude, he doesn’t. You’re a sports talk radio dude. He’s a head coach at a Big Ten university. You can crack your jokes, but don’t be surprised when they hack someone off. You’re talking to someone who is either about to practice or just got done practicing, testosterone flying around, and you hit him immediately with the biggest obstacle he faces at IU: people not taking the program seriously. That’s what he has to recruit against and work against even in his own locker room. So yeah, he got defensive about it, clearly his tactic as coach at IU is to not let people talk smack about his program’s past with impugnity. More power to him. Say what you will about the guys at 680 in Atlanta, at least they’re a lot more respectful to the coaches and players than these two hacks were.

Bluto, you HAVE to change the Quote of the Day. This might actually be the Quote of the Year:

“And “I’m calling [Illinois coach] Ron Zook today, I’m gonna tell him to pound Indiana.”

Those hosts were a bunch of idiots. Wilson’s got my respect.

    • I’d like to know ppls opinion based on who read the transcript and who listened to the interview – because i was on the side of Wilson after the read, and on the side of the hosts after a listen. They really made a throwaway comment that he focused on completely unnecessarily – it was bizarre. They said 5 nice things about the program surrounding that comment.

They did get on their high horse after they kicked him off, however.

Unprofessional, egocentric jocks with the IQ of a rock have no license to insult ANY coach nor his team. You may be surprised later that the coaches circle the wagon and you can’t get anyone to interview. Who in the world with a brain would make those comments, no matter how many accolades you think were showered on the school? You are screwing with a bunch of powerful and loyal alums, one or two of which may own your crappy network and fire your ass for cause. I certainly hope someone does.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner in the name that big ol’ pachyderm contest. Can’t spell pachyderm, don’t care to look it up. Nuts to you and the hippos, too.

Davis, RB for Arkansas, is out for the season. I live in Ark so got the info pretty quick. Not that we play them. Just plays out for a different west this year with him gone and no Mallet.

Tough loss, hate that for Davis. Arky’s offense will still be potent as they have a solid group of receivers and a QB that looked pretty dang good when he played last year. It has always been a question of defense with the Hogs, rarely the offense. That said, the loss of Davis may change them from 3rd to 4th in the West and cost them a much needed weapon against Bama and LSU. Thought they might pull a big upset in one of those games, not so sure now.

Boy, Jack Trudeau sounds like a jackass. He would have had to have been a combination of Bart Starr, Dave Chappelle, and Jesus to justify the seriousness with which he apparently takes himself.
