Sidle on up and grab you a plate.
- DeLoss Dodds says Texas won’t schedule a game with Texas A&M because the Longhorns’ fans have hurt fee-fees.
- John Infante asks a good question about what the NCAA’s Board of Directors is up to with regard to suspending some of the new recruiting rules.
- T. Boone Pickens, whatta guy.
- I definitely don’t have a dog in this fight.
- John Helyar’s got a story that’s worth a read on the NFL’s relationship with Riddell and whether that might have played a part in undermining a company that produced a concussion-preventing helmet.
- Ole Miss getting a big head after a 7-6 season? Oy.
- The Mountain West still ain’t happy with Mark Emmert.
- Cam Cameron on Zach Mettenberger: film don’t lie.
“The Arrogance of DeLoss,” soon to be a major motion picture show starring Al Pacino as DeLoss, Major Applewhite as Phillip Seymour Hoffman, the fired lesbian coach as the tango partner, Rick Perry as the Headmaster with soundtrack by Delany and Bonnie.

Boy, Applewhite lives by another societal creed and still lives in Austin. He confesses a relationship with an underage student and because he reported himself(when threatened) he walks and the lesbian coach, under the same circumstances( but didn’t self-report), was fired. Nice standard. Guess that will teach the broad for not sharing. Or that she should be coaching football.

Yes, Texas needs a period of time to allow animosities to subside… and for Johnny Football to graduate. They also need to speak to their athletic director about something called “non-conference scheduling” because apparently Texas doesn’t know that they’re free to schedule anyone they want that way.
I did spot one fun quote from Dodd: “In the SEC, Alabama hadn’t play Georgia for four years.” That’s right. We hadn’t played Alabama? Yeah, well Alabama hadn’t played us.

I linked right up. Good read. Follow the Stern review. I have sat on a few non-profit boards I am familiar with the waste but at least the pro bono guys can write it off. 😉 About $1.6 billion of the $4.3 billion BP Capital managed in 2007 was Pickens’s personal fortune. So he had his hat in the ring. He charges a 1.3 % management fee and 30% of profits. Until 2008 blew up BP paid out pretty good.

I don’t remember if feelings were the same when Tech left the SEC. Seems like we always found a way to schedule the bugs. Of course, every school needs a few cupcakes on the schedule.

Cam Cameron is damning Mettenberger with faint praise. It was pretty close to not smelling bad for a fat girl.

Between Cam Cameron and Steve Kragthorpe, Zac will be the second coming of Johnny Football except without all that stuff that a pocket QB does not do.

If the A&M program should encounter a downturn which coincides with Texas’ next head coach getting the Longhorns on track, I bet you’d see Dodds change his mind about renewing the series. He just doesn’t want the Aggies to give his boys an epic beatdown, which they would.
Come on, Cotton Bowl committee. Do the right thing. Get these teams together in January. I want to see this game. BAD.

Right GD. This is all about UT trying to avoid playing an in-state rival that would kick the living hell out of the ‘Horns right now–and nothing else. Put ’em in the Cotton Bowl and watch Dodds sweat.

Also, not that I’m expecting anything too huge from Ole Miss this year, you can understand why they’re so excited. They just won some huge recruiting fights which they never really win. And, let’s face it, Auburn went 7-5 in the regular season before their undefeated years in ’04 and ’10. The 1979 Georgia Bulldogs were 6-5. Sometimes that turnaround and an undefeated year is just a few players and a little optimism away.

You should have seen the Longhorn tears leaving the Cotton Bowl that COLD New years day in the early 80’s.
They truly are self absorbed.

Yeah, their tears are larger than everyone’s also.

DeLoss Dodds (what a great Texas name BTW) has been AD at Texas since Herschel Walker wore the Red and Black. Pretty impressive.
