Plenty of goodies to get your day started with:
The rentsGator football prices are too damn high.- The Maryland athletic department has a few more lean years ahead of it, despite the upcoming move to the Big Ten.
- More love for Georgia’s receivers coach: “Coach Ball really does a good job with guys like that that are bigger bodies and maybe a little bit raw.”
- The SEC’s new scheduling tradition is to ignore the old scheduling traditions.
- The SEC and Big Ten announce they won’t license their trademarks to EA Sports anymore. The Pac-12, too.
- Here’s Sports Illustrated‘s preseason Top 25 list. I wish somebody there would explain how Texas A&M is third and Georgia is twelfth.
- On the other hand, check out CFN‘s prediction for who plays in the national title game.
- Unsurprisingly, Tennessee has released single-game tickets for its game against Georgia.
- Dawg Blog explores what we might expect to see from Clemson on offense and defense in the opener.
- Georgia Tech plays a small role in Texas A&M’s approach to the Manziel mess.
- One more thing about Florida this season – just as overlooked as the turnover margin story is the fact that the Gators have to replace Caleb Sturgis.
- And here’s a long interview with Bill Connelly about his new book.
The huge disparity in CFN’s projections vs Sports Illustrated is a head scratcher. Which has been more accurate in the past and what to believe? You finally have to go with you own personal opinion and try to be objective…and I see things more CFB’s way than SI’s. I suspect SI is trying to cash in on the Johnny Football hoopla. How ironic will it be if UGA plays A&M in the SECCG and Manzel is on the field even after the NCAA determines he sold stuff (after the way they screwed UGA and AJ over the jersey fisco). As much as I don’t care for Alabama, I hope they send this whole A&M circus packing. Like him or not ,Saban is the master of game prep…he won’t be slipped up on again.

The fact that Alabama had played a very emotional game at LSU on the previous Saturday made the timing perfect for TAMU to come into Tuscaloosa and steal one….after losing at home themselves to LSU and UF.
It was a great win for TAMU and I hate to make excuses for Bama, but TAMU was very fortunate to catch Bama when they did.

So, like, if Aaron Murray walks by a hat shop where I buy a new hat, are we in trouble with the NCAA?….I could stay with last year’s model if buying a new one is going to endanger “Aaron Football”….but I was hoping to find something that does not give up 350 yards on the ground…in one game.

A lot of the Florida love is the mystique of the Florida name. It doesn’t come from a lackluster offensive unit, or a defense plugging a lot of holes, or a special teams unit that replaces the team’s main source of points from last year, or the regression to the mean on turnovers… or, wait, what was I talking about again? The #9 team in the country? Hmmm.

I’m completely fine with being ranked 12th. Let our guys have a chip on their shoulders and everyone else get big heads. We’ve always played the underdog role well .

I’ve always been in awe of how smart the writers at CFN are.

I an in awe of whatever it is they’re taking. Sure, we’ll be in the MNC Game, but Mack? He’s never recovered from the PTSD that Nick gave him a few years ago when Mack’s Colt was injured and they almost had to put him down or the 63-21 can of defensive shootout that Big Game Bob opened up on him last season

The Gator ticket article is pretty consistent with things we’ve read re:UGA, about grad tickets and so forth.
For those who want to read the article w/o signing up for anything, here’s a quickie link: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/opinion/os-beth-kassab-gator-ticket-prices-20130813,0,1150983,print.column

Good grief. What was Sturgis? An fifteenth year senior? Seems like he’s been their kicker since Methuselah was a teenager.

Good point. Had Caleb not been ‘injured’ (probably’ old age’), we may not have had the opportunity to see Todd give what I would call a very good choke sign to Chas Henry

Who gives a crap where we’re ranked in August?
Get to 4-0 and everything will look peachy in the Peach State.
