But with Kiffin, I have no doubt he will get the requisite praise or blame for the Crimson Tide’s offensive performance.” I wonder if that will turn out to be a feature or a bug.

- Supposedly FSU was willing to go toe to toe with Georgia on Jeremy Pruitt’s salary, but couldn’t come up with the jack to outbid Mississippi State for Geoff Collins’ services. Interesting.

Re the Tony Brown story. As you said recently: “Forget it Jake, it’s Tuscaloosa.” I doubt we’ll see one bit of lost playing time, unless Tony isn’t that good or gets ‘hurt.’

Wouldn’t matter at all. Brown’s “punishment” will be dealt with in accordance, and proportionate with his performance during Spring drills. After all the LOIs roll in, expect about 5-6 players to be expendable before August. Kamara has already helped Little Nicky out by moving on. The NFL has roster cuts to get down to 53, Bama just has to get back to 85 by August deadline.

I was trying a little sarcasm this morning. A young man asked to disperse and yet chooses to remain and yell obscenities at police doesn’t sound like a rational sober person. Under age drinking would have a higher degree of expected repercussions by the AD. We lost a kicker. Charge: Sitting in a jet ski with open container while being a Georgia football player. Automatic suspension. Makes you wish they would have just pepper sprayed him and moved on. No?

No, I realized he wouldn’t incur any lost time or opportunities, and that you knew that too. Just wanted to add that when you have the advantage of a full 25% more athletes each and every recruiting class the degree of angst over one player’s indiscretions is significantly different with Bama fans than it would be for Dawg fans. As Andy Griffith said, “just tote him off and run another one on”. And the NCAA/SEC just turns it’s back on the issue. Hard to make Delany look better than many people but the Big ? is miles ahead of the SEC on this issue.

I just don’t get it about Hal Mumme. The guy is a genius about passing O. Why is he HC at an NAIA school? IMHO he never really got a fair chance. His only major college job was at Kentucky and that place is a graveyard. You’d think that a school with resources like an Illinois or Indiana from the B1G or a PAC 12 school that loves passing like a Cal would have given the guy a shot by now. He had some good years at UK although he finished like everybody else who takes that job does–2 and 9 and fired.

Remember why he was fired? It wasn’t as much the 2-9 as it was the massive list of NCAA violations committed. That is kind of a bigger black mark on his resume than the record.

Credited with the “Air Raid” offense he was a man ahead of his times…in many ways.

As a result, they were banned from post-season play in 2002 and lost 19 scholarships over the next three seasons. Mumme, however, was not given any individual sanctions.[16] He was replaced by his offensive line coach Guy Morriss.”
…and this certainly didn’t help his career.
“While the coach at New Mexico State, Mumme was the object of a lawsuit brought by four Muslim NMSU players and the ACLU, who claimed that Mumme subjected them to a hostile work environment on account of their religion.[18] The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court, when NMSU agreed to pay a sum of $165,000 to the four players. Neither Mumme nor NMSU admitted to any wrongdoing in the case”
