Another day, another buffet.
- Ole Miss has a fundraising campaign going to pay its SEC fine and for new goalposts.
- The next antitrust lawsuit over use of college athletes’ names and likenesses has been filed against nearly all of the national over-the-air and cable television networks that have significant live college sports programming; the five power conferences; and the nation’s two largest college-sports multi-media and marketing rights companies.
- Having to excuse subpar officiating in two conferences? Nobody said life would be easy, Steve Shaw.
- Catfished!
- ESPN is confident it can spot the nation’s most deserving teams. (Mark May already knows that.)
- Can anything be sweeter than trolling a stupid Mike Bianchi column?
- What liberals get wrong about football.
- Another Georgia player keeps his cool in a downtown Athens bar.
Does not matter. Only way we get in is by winning out. We may be able to get in with one more loss, but the loss could only be to Missouri or Auburn by a very small margin. Either way we would still be required to win the SEC Champ game, which at this point could be anyone from the West except LSU and Arky.

Link to Ole Miss article goes to the bad officiating article as well (for me at least)

I offer to represent all posters on this blog in a class action lawsuit asking for a refund. This case could be worth millions! 🙂

How is Steve Shaw coordinator of officials for the SunBelt? He is failing at his job with the SEC and it needs immediate attention (has for well over a decade). Is the SEC allowing him to “moonlight” when his job with this conference is abysmal? Let him go to the SunBelt, or get back on the field as a ref where he was successful, because his performance is currently as bad as the two Techies before him.
Officiating in the SEC is unacceptable, and it gets mocked regularly. It is even embarrassing to see an SEC crew call a bowl game when there is no SEC team in it. The problem isn’t the conspiracy one but forward on some message boards, it is simply incompetence and lack of accountability……which is Shaw’s job. SEC, far and away the best on the field, fighting for the cellar when it comes to officials yet now we find Shaw is a “part timer”? Spend some money and upgrade.

The SunBelt officials work under the umbrella of SEC officials. Been that way for a few years. This is nothing new.

I don’t care. Mac’s right. Why in hell is Shaw supervising SunBelt officials when he is doing a lousy job supervising SEC officials? Maybe if he devoted all his time to the SEC he would do a better job. This needs to end–now!

hey, maybe it’s unfair for the SEC to try and monopolize the officiating badness. Shouldn’t we be proud of the SEC for sharing with less fortunate conferences? I mean, it’s like sending all those “AUBURN 2013 Football National Champions” to Nigeria for some unsuspecting third world kid to wear (as if those poor children haven’t suffered enough….)

Thanks, didn’t know that. Stand by my position that he should do his primary job well first before diluting his attention. Sun Belt may want to align themselves with a conference that has better officiating.

Oh…we’re still f’d from going on the field against FU. Gurley gets a penalty for that spike yet every other game has guys taunting and throat slashing, yet no flags.

Noticed that too. It has to be another Steve Shaw, which is a little spooky.

Jeepers. Blows my mind. The SEC guy is pulling double duty? He doesn’t have enough to do? Geez. Hard to buy that.

It probably lets Slive save a few bucks on Shaw’s SEC salary. 😉

Mark Richt has clearly lost control of his players not getting in to fights in bars. It’s obviously because they don’t respect/fear him – they’re not worried that he’ll call them a pussy for not fighting back. So, they go downtown and don’t get themselves arrested. What kind of men is coach shaping?

That’s awesome. It’s really nice to see someone rep the G positively though.

I was wondering if this Bradford guy could run? We could use a DB with a bad attitude.

Did not the OC have a history of bar hopping in his past. And I think I have heard Coach Richt mention in some of his earlier speeches on the road to various groups about bar tending.
When you are that age it happens. Think you have to caution the young men to not embarrass themselves, their fellow players, and their families while doing it…especially while the season is underway.
Probably going to be limited now with the travel games.
Road Dawgs…take one at a time…leave a message on the scoreboard you were there.

Bobo got arrested at Foxyz (bar under Allen’s) in the summer of ’95. I think he had a fake id on him.

There was a group of guys outside Foxyz and when the popo showed up they all ran. Bobo was the only one the officers could catch.

Hilarious that Ole Miss wants the fans to pay when the AD just said that they would gladly pay the fine. Funny enough that they want folks that already pay and donate to do it again. I would have told UGA to get bent had they done this after the 2000 UT game. This has Greg McGarity/UGA cheap assess written all over it.

The lawsuit seems like a stolen idea since the FCC just said they were going to fine any broadcaster who said redskins on air. Seeing these copycat lawsuit trains is both funny, scary and sad.
