… I would have told you to stuff those intangibles in a bag and burn them.  That’s not the kind of thing a focused, mature team gets involved in before an SEC road game.

Starks is having an impressive true freshman season.  And he’s only going to get better.

Second random Sunday thought

I have to give credit to ESPN’s Cole Cubelic for pointing out that Georgia changed its run blocking scheme in the second half and gained traction in doing so.  He even got Smart to agree with him in the post-game interview.

The stats speak for themselves.

Georgia ran it 24 times in the 2nd half for 6.4 YPC and a 62.5% success rate with a .526 EPA

UGA’s much maligned run game saved it in the 2nd half. No coincidence it came on mostly Gap Scheme.

UGA in the 4th Quarter: 15 carries for 108 yards

– 8 carries for 65 yards on UGA’s back-to-back TD drives to start the 4th

– 7 carries for 43 YDS on final drive to kill the clock. Edwards had 6 carries for 42 yards on that drive

First random Sunday thought

If the SEC office were really on its game, Darnell Washington ought to win the Offensive Player of the Week award — tough catches, even tougher blocking, you name it.  The Dawgs don’t win the game without his production.
