Dig in, peeps.
- Injury report: Gurley practiced, Matthews is a full go, Lynch’s ribs hurt and no Conley.
- Malcolm Mitchell starts a trend, as a Kentucky receiver goes down with an ACL injury incurred while celebrating.
- This whole piece is based on a faulty premise. Everyone knows Florida didn’t start playing football until 1990.
- News of more recent vintage: the Gators may wind up finishing unranked for the third time in four years. Ouch.
- It’s not so much that I question the data here – honestly, I have no idea if TAMU is fudging the numbers or not – it’s that I’m more than a little surprised that the school is pushing a story like that.
- If I gave out a commenter of the year award at GTP, it would have to go to one of the guys who pimped Aaron Murray’s bad QBR.
- Justin Scott-Wesley shows remorse. Jimmy Williamson smiles.
- Douche nozzle of the week award goes to… Dan Sileo.
Also on the Florida front: coupla commenters on their blogs are still cherry picking the series record. I hope it’s satisfying. Sounds hollow to me.

5-5 the past decade. Georgia 4-3 in the past 7 and has won the last 3.

That’s unpossible. You are only allowed to measure the GA/FL series from 1990 forward.

No! Only from 1990 to 2010!!!!

Gosh, I bet it never occurred to our guys it might hurt Florida’s collective feelings when we were “chomping” with the fans in the stands after the game.
Guess we all need to be more sensitive to nonverbal communication.

The best part of the USA Today piece is the slideshow of “Florida Coach Will Muschamp’s Emotional Highlights.” I think they even have the original Boom MF’er pic in there.

I thought it was pretty goofy that the kid said that the coach always blames himself and not anyone else. He said it twice. I’ve seen Boom on the sidelines when things go wrong. Believe me, he blames.

If you ever had the (mis)fortune of being in a radio market with Sileo on the air, you know he could get that award almost every week. Dude still thinks he’s 22 and it’s 1986.

I hope Scott-Wesley learned his lesson. Never admit to a crime and never give police consent to search anything.
Best of luck to him in the future.

Excellent advice, if I may say so myself.

His judgement was clearly impaired because…you know…reefers. But I’m not sure that not giving consent for the cops search your stuff is the lesson to be learned here. I would hope the lesson learned is that if your team (or future employer) has a drug policy DON’T SMOKE THE DRUGS!

That’s TWO lessons: Don’t smoke Jay’s and never consent to anything without a warrant. Whether guilty or not, everyone has something if you dig deep enough that can be misconstrued or used against you. Always be polite and cooperative, but never give consent or admission to ANY officer of the law or DA.

That is not the correct lesson to learn, Hacker. It seems he learned the correct lesson, i.e. admit when you make a mistake, own up to it like a man, take your punishment, and not repeat it. People will forgive you and give you a second chance is you do these things.

Yes, and I believe that’s the approach CMR takes in his role as a mentor and coach. That’s something a lot of programs can’t claim…not honesty anyway.

Here’s to hoping JSW has a Thomas Brown type ACL recovery and is available for the bowl game and therefore suspended for the bowl game. I am pretty sure we will need him for Clemson. SMDH

In order to comply with the university’s policy to the letter JSW should not be allowed to play in the first game after he is discovered smoking pot and the imposition of the discipline, i.e. App State. Let him sit that one out for his punishment. That’s what the Ole Ball Sack would do.

Yes, then Spurrier would make a shitty remark about Georgia.

Or say, “He’s not starting”, and then put him in on the second play.

Kind of surprised the Vanderbilt situation wasn’t on the buffet, Senator, especially since it’s got a “Crime & Punishment” tag on it anyway.

James Franklin had better hope to God he can truly claim ignorance of everything. If not, his ass will not only be gone, but it will be whatever happens to one’s ass after “gone.”

“For his part, Deputy District Attorney Tom Thurman scoffed at the idea that his office would help protect a Vanderbilt player, telling CNN that he isn’t Carta-Samuels’ offensive line, saying that, as a Tennessee fan, “I wouldn’t be protecting a Vanderbilt quarterback.”
DA Tom further added that Nashville is not Alachua County

Aggies “made only about $20,000 from Johnny Manziel’s Heisman Trophy last season, according to the school.”
What? Will this startling news cause The HP Heisman Watch to desperately seek a new hole in the wall for the QB glory award?

Is Gurley suspended for any portion of the App State game? Is anybody other than mentioned above?

They called off setting penalties in the game so I doubt anyone is suspended.

I suspect the SEC would have announced that by now.
